LexisNexis Legal & Professional is seeking a hunter-focused Business Development Manager to identify, engage, and win new clients across South Africa’s public-sector legal community.

You’ll build demand for our legal and professional solutions, developing senior-level relationships and tailoring value-led proposals to customer needs. This is a new-business role with a strong focus on prospecting, new-logo acquisition, pipeline discipline, and exceeding revenue and activity targets.

Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and acquire new business opportunities within the legal sector and selected corporate industries.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers across public-sector legal functions, law societies, bar associations, and chambers.
- Lead solution-based sales engagements, including client meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations, both in person and virtually.
- Research prospective clients, market trends, sales data, and competitor activity to shape relevant product packages and sales strategies.
- Drive sector-focused campaigns and participate in marketing-led activities, industry events, seminars, and conferences.
- Generate and follow up on leads, converting opportunities into new business.
- Manage the sales pipeline with accurate forecasting, timely follow-up, and clear reporting on performance and key metrics.
- Balance prospecting, client engagement, follow-ups, and reporting through effective diary and time management.
- Meet or exceed revenue, sales activity, and new-logo acquisition targets.
Requirements
- At least three years’ experience in business development, solution selling, or B2B sales, with a record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in commission-driven environments.
- Experience in software, insurance, telecommunications, legal technology, risk and compliance, or subscription-based services is preferred.
- Strong business acumen and the confidence to engage senior executives, partners, and decision-makers.
- Excellent English communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- A self-directed, disciplined approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.
- Experience using CRM platforms and sales tools to manage accounts, leads, opportunities, and sales activity.
- A Law or Business degree is advantageous; the ability to understand legal and technical solutions is essential.
- Legal, governance, risk, or compliance experience is advantageous.
