The WBG People Vice Presidency is responsible for bringing the right public- and private-sector solutions to operational teams and clients and delivering impact at scale.  Its mandate is to deliver knowledge for impact to enable and support the WBG to achieve its goals in support of our mission, specifically related to human capital, education and skills, health, social protection and gender, supporting and accelerating specific strategies and targets. The VPU’s objectives in driving outcomes include replicating and scaling effective solutions, enhancing thought leadership and innovation, and delivering timely knowledge to client teams.

The WBG Gender Department, and its two main units (Policy & Regulation (P&R) and Solutions & Impact (S&I)), aim to inspire, connect, support, and deliver alongside teams across the World Bank Group to drive action and impact in accelerating gender equality. It sets the strategic direction to deliver the WBG Gender Strategy 2024-30 and Targets through the WBG’s knowledge agenda, operational approaches, and partnerships. It collaborates across the WBG Gender Network, Verticals, Horizontals, Regions, and Industries to foster and harness the collective expertise of the WBG to deliver innovative, impactful solutions for clients.

A key function of the Department is to accelerate gender equality through analytics, operational support, and innovation. This requires high-quality data management, rigorous validation, and development of innovative tools, including AI-enabled solutions. The ETC will support all aspects of data related to Gender WBG Scorecard results measurement and reporting working closely with the S&I unit, engaging with counterparts in Industries, Regions, Development Impact (CDI), and IT. This work will help ensure that all eligible gender-flagged projects report results disaggregated by sex, disabilities and youth, and that data gaps across the full eligible portfolio are identified and resolved.
