Purpose of the role

To collaborate, nurture and drive group innovation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the bank stays at the forefront of innovation and adapts to the rapidly changing landscape in financial services and increasing customer expectations. 

Accountabilities

• Collaboration with a range of stakeholders to develop a portfolio of open innovation and strategic initiatives through experimentation, co-creation, access to innovative technology capabilities, products and services and a global innovation ecosystem.
• Development and delivery of frameworks, ideation, training and tools to build a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing to enable new and creative ideas/solutions that deliver on the bank’s strategy.
• Provision of a global platform and curated ecosystem of partners to inform strategy, drive connectivity and new insights.
• Development of the strategic capabilities and programmes for the bank to deliver on its strategy, supporting the exploration, evaluation and execution of innovation and investment opportunities.
• Management and coordination between external stakeholders/partners and the bank, to successfully deliver joint projects and initiatives.
• Deliver thought leadership and insights to inform strategic decision making and organisational readiness, in conjunction with regular research, identifying emerging technologies and trends.  .
• Development and management of key metrics including key partnerships, innovation initiatives and impact through regular assessments to calculate the return on investment and identify any potential risks and issues.

Join us as Barclays as an Innovation Enablement Manager, where you will act as the bridge between strategic innovation priorities, human-centred design, and the technical capabilities required to deliver them. Translates emerging opportunities, user needs, and business innovation objectives into experimentation, platform, and capability roadmaps, bringing future customer and colleague experiences to life through practical pilots, proofs of concept, and innovation enablement initiatives. Works closely with design, technology, platform, and business teams to enable rapid testing, learning, and scaling of new opportunities, ensuring innovative ideas are validated, adopted, and converted into measurable business outcomes.

To be successful as Innovation Enablement Manager, you should have:

• Strategy & Vision-to-Execution Translation Ability to translate innovation strategies, business objectives, emerging customer needs, and future-state propositions into practical experiments, capability requirements, operating models, platform enhancements, and implementation roadmaps that can be tested, validated, and scaled.
• Experimentation & Pilot Delivery Experience designing, leading, and governing pilots, proofs of concept, and experimentation programmes to validate hypotheses, assess value, and inform investment decisions.
• Stakeholder & Technology Collaboration Strong ability to work across business, product, engineering, architecture, and platform teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver innovation outcomes.

 Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Emerging Technology Awareness Interest in, and understanding of, emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, cloud platforms, digital engineering, and automation, with the ability to identify business applications.
• Technical Literacy Understanding of platform architecture, APIs, cloud services, data flows, security considerations, and modern technology delivery practices sufficient to engage credibly with engineering teams.
• Innovation Portfolio & Roadmap Management Experience prioritising opportunities, shaping capability investments, and balancing short-term experimentation needs with longer-term strategic platform development.
