Purpose of the role

To provide assurance over the effectiveness of Compliance Risk Management across the bank. 

Accountabilities

• Development and refresh of the Compliance Assurance Annual Plan, ensuring that the Annual Plan focuses on areas of highest risk and value in relation to Compliance Risk.
• Delivery of risk-based assurance activity to validate the effectiveness of controls and processes designed to mitigate Compliance Risk.
• Identification of potential risks associated with non-compliance or control weaknesses in relation to Compliance Risk.
• Verbal and written communication of Compliance Assurance reports and issues to enhance the effectiveness of Compliance Risk management and oversight.
• Build, development and maintenance of effective relationships between Compliance Assurance and stakeholders across the three lines of defence.
• Proactive adoption of Data Analytics capabilities to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and coverage of Assurance work.
• Continued focus on the Barclays Mindset and Consistently Excellent to enhance the Assurance that we deliver, how it is delivered and the culture within the bank.

Join us as a Compliance Assurance Review Lead (Vice President) within the Financial Crime Compliance Assurance Team.

As a Compliance Assurance Review Lead, you will lead and execute assurance reviews to independently assess and report on the effectiveness of Compliance and Financial Crime Risk management across multiple Business Units. You will be responsible for managing reviews from planning through to reporting, providing objective challenge to the business, identifying key risks and control weaknesses, and delivering high-quality assurance insights.

You will build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business and Compliance, confidently discussing complex and, at times, contentious issues, influencing decision-making, and driving accountability for remediation activities. You will also play a key role in supporting the development of junior team members and contributing to the ongoing evolution of the Compliance Assurance function and strategy.

To be successful as a Compliance Assurance Review Lead, you must have the following essential criteria:

• Significant experience leading Compliance Assurance, Internal Audit and / or External Audit reviews.
• Good knowledge of Financial Crime and the associated regulatory environment.
• Strong technical assurance skills, including risk assessment, control evaluation, root cause analysis, issue articulation, and identifying themes and trends across multiple sources of information.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and navigate complex or sensitive discussions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and impactful reports for senior management.
• Demonstratable leadership experience , with the ability to coach ,develop and motivate colleagues, foster collaboration and contribute positively to team performance and culture.
• A proactive, self-motivated and delivery-focused mindset, with the ability to work independently, take ownership, show initiative, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Location: Glasgow with 3 anchor days in the office.
