Job responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-native software solutions using modern technology stacks to deliver highly available, performant, and resilient products
- Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others to improve reliability and maintainability
- Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and operational processes across the engineering lifecycle
- Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more focus areas (for example: public cloud engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure as code)
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen team capabilities and delivery consistency
- Influence peers and project stakeholders to adopt leading engineering practices and technologies that improve measurable outcomes
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (for example: AI-assisted code review and refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, and incident root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards and promoting reuse
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience and 2+ years of experience leading engineers to plan, deliver, and resolve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and production operations for distributed services
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript
- Experience migrating complex applications to the public cloud (IaC developer, SRE and Acceleration roles)
- Experience delivering in an Agile environment using practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/DC), and Scrum
- Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns, with experience implementing modular monolith and microservices architectures
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (for example: coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience designing and maintaining API-based and event-driven architectures
- Advanced experience building and operating cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code patterns (including modules, policies, and environment promotion)
- Experience with modern front-end development using React
- Experience defining observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) and operational readiness practices for production services
