Duties and Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will undertake extensive travels to Kuajok, Aweil, Rumbek and Torit to engage with a wide range of local stakeholders. The incumbent will report to the Director of the Civil Affairs Division. • Develop and monitor the project workplan and implementation schedule, ensuring timely delivery of activities and outputs. • Coordinate the work of the Technical Consultant and ensure quality assurance of project deliverables, including the toolkit and related training materials. • Lead project monitoring, reporting, documentation of lessons learned, and risk management. • Ensure the integration of gender, youth, disability inclusion, and conflict sensitivity across all project activities. • Conduct capacity-building workshops and training for 200 CSOs representatives from Aweil, Kuajok, Rumbek and Torit on early warning systems, conflict management, project management, hate speech, mis/disinformation mitigation, media literacy, and conflict-sensitive communication. • Facilitate 16 workshops in total (4 per state: Aweil, Kuajok, Rumbek, Torit). Average participants per workshop 50, total participants training 200, from 4 states. • Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of national and subnational CSO coordination networks, including joint platforms, and focal point designations for real-time information sharing and collaborative advocacy. Ensure 4 networks established and strengthened (one per state). • Facilitate designation and training of 20 CSO focal points (5 per state). • Support CSO-led community dialogues, radio talk shows, and awareness campaigns on peace messaging, conflict management, and inclusive governance. 16 radio talk shows (4 per state) and 4 awareness campaigns (1 per state) • Provide technical and logistical assistance for CSO monitoring and reporting on intercommunal violence, POC and early warning indicators, including exchange visits and access to local media houses for amplifying voices. • Facilitate 4 exchange visits (one each between the four states). • Facilitate CSOs’ engagements with state authorities and security organs (e.g., NSS, SSPDF, NPS) to build trust and advocate for civic space protection; 8 engagements per year (2 per state). • Assist CSOs in developing and disseminating toolkits, guidelines, and action plans for sustainable CSO interventions in peacebuilding, focusing on PoC, political and electoral processes, civic education, conflict management, and countering hate speech, and mis/disinformation. • Oversee development of 1 toolkit by the Technical Consultant. • Facilitate 4 dissemination workshops (1 per state) for the toolkit. • Coordinate to establish 4 Civic Space Centers (1 per state) to collect and analyze early warning information, foster collaboration among CSOs/CBOs and state authorities, and strengthen grassroots response mechanisms for effective conflict prevention and mitigation. • Develop Civic Space Center operational model, SOPs and management structure. • Ensure the centers function as a multipurpose facility, serving both CSOs/CBOs and the wider community.
Qualifications/special skills
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, governance, peacebuilding/conflict management, development studies; or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area is required. • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in reconciliation or in areas of peacebuilding or conflict management is required. • Knowledge in programming or strategy development including good understanding of PKO programming modalities in South Sudan preferably is required. • Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting is required. Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives involving civil society, government institutions, local communities, and international partners is desirable. • Proven experience as a grassroots-level peace adviser/consultant is desirable • Extensive field experience, especially in conflict and/or post-conflict settings; prior experience in South Sudan is desirable. • Demonstrable ability to engage with sensitivity, strategic foresight, and political acumen in situations involving multiple actors and stakeholders from antagonistic ethnic communities and political factions is desirable.
