As the world’s number one professional services firm, we bring challenge, curiosity and edge to the financial reporting ecosystem. Our teams combine advanced technology with deep professional expertise to evolve our audit and assurance processes. You will work with talented colleagues across our global network to make an impact that matters every day. Number one never stops challenging and neither do we.
.Why you'll enjoy this new opportunity
Reporting Excellence is an exciting and growing team within Deloitte Ireland's Assurance business. We help finance functions produce better, faster and more reliable financial reporting, and we support them through the moments that matter most: transactions, new accounting standards, system change and the adoption of AI. Our work is built around four key pillars:
- Reporting Excellence & Solutions: optimising reporting cycles through standardisation, consolidation, automation and Operate expansion;
- Accounting Advice & Transaction Support: providing expert technical accounting support for M&A, IPOs and new standards;
- Technology & AI Advisory: advising finance functions on accounting, controls and audit considerations as they implement system changes and AI-enabled automation; and
- Specialist Functions: providing integrated support across audit and advisory.
We are looking for generalists: people who can confidently engage with clients and who understand the end-to-end financial reporting process, the systems that support it and the reporting outputs it produces. Breadth, curiosity and sound accounting judgement are what we value most, and you will have the opportunity to work across all four pillars on a wide variety of clients and projects.
As a Reporting Excellence Senior, you will be a core member of our engagement teams, working hands-on with client finance teams on a wide variety of projects. One month you might be helping a client streamline its month-end close, the next drafting a technical accounting paper for an acquisition or assessing the reporting impact of a new ERP system or AI tool. You will build a rare breadth of experience early in your career, working alongside audit, technology and advisory colleagues, and develop the client-facing skills and commercial awareness that will set you up for progression. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, learns quickly and wants to see the real impact of their work on how organisations report.
Key skills and prior experience that align well with this position
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with a strong academic record and experience gained through audit, industry or project-based advisory work. This is essential.
- Solid technical grounding in IFRS and/or FRS 102 (US GAAP a bonus). You can research accounting questions, apply the standards to practical scenarios and draft clear technical analysis, with support and review from more senior colleagues.
- Understanding of the financial reporting process: how transactions flow from source systems through the general ledger, consolidation and close into the financial statements and management reporting. Exposure to ERP or reporting tools (for example SAP, Oracle, Workday or Power BI) and an interest in automation and AI are an advantage.
- Generalist mindset and confidence with clients: you are comfortable working directly with client finance teams, asking good questions and communicating clearly in writing and in person. You enjoy variety and are keen to work across all four of our pillars.
- Organised and reliable delivery: the ability to manage your own tasks, work to deadlines, produce accurate, high-quality work and keep your manager informed of progress and issues. You are willing to support junior colleagues and contribute to proposals and team initiatives.
What type of work will I be doing?
- Project Delivery & Client Execution (65%): Carry out core engagement work, including process walkthroughs and documentation, data analysis, reconciliations, drafting reporting templates and disclosures, and testing reporting and automation solutions. Work directly with client finance teams to gather information and resolve queries.
- Technical Accounting & Problem-Solving (20%): Research accounting questions under IFRS and FRS 102, prepare first drafts of accounting papers and memos, and support the team on transactions, IPO readiness and the adoption of new standards such as IFRS 18.
- Team Support & Development (10%): Support and guide Associates and graduates on engagements, share knowledge across the team, and invest in your own development through training and on-the-job learning.
- Business Development & Market Presence (5%): Contribute to proposals and pitch materials, help prepare thought leadership and client events, and take part in internal initiatives that build the team's profile.
