Position Purpose

A key role in the Regional Global Markets & ALMT Compliance Governance Model and a senior member of the regional Compliance team. 

Manage and be responsible for a cross-border team of Compliance officers based in Hong Kong and Singapore.  Support the Regional Head of Global Equities Compliance and the Regional Head of Global Markets & ALMT Compliance, coordinate all Equity Derivatives, Equity Syndicate, Derivatives Execution and Clearing coverage-related activities and action plans.

Responsible for the provision of compliance advice and challenge to Business and other stakeholders in all jurisdictions across APAC for business lines of Equity Derivatives, Equity Syndicate, Derivatives Execution and Clearing.  Closely liaise with, challenging and keeping regularly informed the relevant business seniors.  Also responsible for timely communication on key topics to Territory Compliance heads.

Act as the central escalation point of various regional projects relating to Equity Derivatives, Equity Syndicate, Derivatives Execution and Clearing.  This position will also act as one of the main Compliance contact points for the implementation within Global Markets of local, regional, and global projects, and reform initiatives for the Equity Derivatives, Equity Syndicate, Derivatives Execution and Clearing business lines. He or she will lead regional training initiatives aimed at maintaining consistently high levels of front office proficiency in relevant rules and regulations, codes of conduct, and particularly the laws and regulations governing the bench marking activities and various remediation requirements for APAC Global Markets business.

Stakeholders include all relevant business and functional heads and teams in APAC, within Global Markets Department and within Compliance; and various regulatory authorities in APAC.

What is required for you to succeed?

The incumbent will have knowledge in most if not all of the following areas:

Equities Sales and Trading, Equity Derivatives, compliance-relevant topics focused on Market Integrity including good working knowledge of listed exchange and OTC trading venue rule books, familiar with market abuse risks.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Willing to learn, tenacious, hardworking and enthusiastic.  The candidate must possess good communication and social skills to be a team player and work with all levels.  Independent minded, with good command of written and spoken English.  Sound knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with legal documentation for electronic trading agreements is a significant benefit.

Specific Qualifications Required

Education: Undergraduate Degree

Experience: Minimum of 15 or more years of relevant experience, including in the Compliance department of a financial institution, with knowledge of Global Markets Global Equities compliance issues as set out above.  Possess an excellent knowledge of HKMA/ SFC requirements (e.g., SFC Code of Conduct), as well as regional and global regulatory requirements and their practical application.

The candidate should be a senior professional with regulatory and related industry experience.  This will entail sufficient experience and a good understanding of the regulatory environment and the key challenges and developments which the business as well as the wider industry faces.
