About the Role

Investment Analyst, Tokyo

The Investment Analyst will support Equity Product Management within the Client Platform in Tokyo. The Equity Product Management (“EPM”) group at Wellington Management works closely with our equity investment teams, relationship teams, and business colleagues across the firm to support our clients’ investment needs. Our equity investors span a wide range of disciplines, geographies, industries, market capitalizations, and styles. The product management function has three main objectives:

The Investment Analyst role is designed for a developing investment professional with a strong interest in equities, capital markets, and client engagement. The individual will build expertise across a broad range of Wellington's equity strategies and, over time, develop into a trusted representative of those strategies for Japanese clients and business partners.

Working closely with Investment Directors, Investment Specialists, portfolio managers, relationship managers, and consultants, the Analyst will contribute to portfolio and market analysis, investment insights, business management initiatives, and client communications. A key aspect of the role is developing the ability to articulate investment views, portfolio developments, and market insights clearly and confidently in Japanese, both in meetings and presentations.

We are seeking intellectually curious individuals who combine strong analytical capability with excellent communication and presentation skills. While investment management, equity research, or product management experience can be valuable, we welcome candidates from a broad range of financial services backgrounds, particularly those with client-facing experience and a genuine passion for investing.

Successful candidates will be eager to learn, comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders, and motivated to build long-term expertise in equity investing while translating complex investment concepts into clear and compelling messages.

This role should provide structured exposure to equity portfolio analysis, product positioning, portfolio review preparation, client materials, and internal product-management processes. Over time, a successful analyst should develop the investment knowledge, judgment, and communication capability required to progress toward Investment Specialist responsibilities.
