Leading Hand Mill Maintenance
Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class Zinc-Lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process Zinc, Lead and Silver from our open cut mining operations. They are then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.
As the Leading Hand in Processing Plant, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the maintenance activities within the mill and crusher areas. This will involve coordinating a team of maintenance workers to ensure the continuous operation of the processing plant, minimising downtime, and implementing safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to a team of maintenance personnel in the safe and effective operation of the processing plant.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed according to company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate the day-to-day maintenance activities of the processing plant, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Provide input into the weekly and long-term planning activities and execution of the plans, equipment overhauls, and repairs.
- Monitor and maintain the condition of equipment to ensure optimum performance and reliability.
- Report and document maintenance activities, work orders and completed tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance procedures, equipment, and processes are adhered to in a safe and effective manner.
- Work closely with other departments to resolve issues and ensure production and maintenance schedules are met.
- Promote a safety-first culture within the team and report any hazards or risks to management.
- Assist in the development and training of team members.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a mining or heavy industry environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of processing equipment and systems.
- Excellent leadership and team coordination skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
- Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with different teams.
- Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician) are preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
