What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Staffing Strategy & Deployment (50%)
End-to-End Deployment & Execution
- Own and manage the execution of the full deployment process for all consulting cohorts, including seasonal programmes (Summer Associates, Visiting Associates) and strategic projects.
- Maintain acute awareness of business priorities and pipeline; understand case objectives and skills needs; continuously engage with senior stakeholders to shape staffing options.
- Balance business needs with individual preferences, promotion timing, visa and mobility factors, and Career Development (CD) messages; ensure equity, performance, development, and diversity are considered at team and portfolio levels.
- Serve as the go-to contact for consulting talent: discuss preferences and development goals, advise on trade-offs, communicate decisions and rationale, and set and enforce staffing policies.
- Oversee the weekly voting process in SAM, ensuring that all requests are in ahead of the weekly deadline and are accurately reflected; and analyse the recommendations from the Teambuilder algorithm to ensure the best-fit consulting staff are confirmed for each case based on A/C preferences, PPL preferences, and prior PA experience.
- Lead or participate in weekly portfolio reviews and case requirement discussions with leadership teams (OL/Staffing MDP Lead).
- Coordinate teaming survey setup, cadence, and coaching follow-ups; monitor trends and escalate risks.
- Drive strategic projects to improve staffing processes and satisfaction, using People Survey results as input.
- Coordinate with the Staffing Associate across the staffing process (BD allocations, SAM confirmations, communicating staffing availability and decisions), guiding their weekly priorities and having regular development chats.
Consulting Cohort Coverage & Programmes
- Manage deployment for seasonal programmes (SumA/VA) to create well-matched experiences that support conversion and learning outcomes.
- Partner with Recruiting and P&D to align start dates, onboarding, and integration plans; track allocations and ramp-up of experienced hires, SIIP/ECT, and transfers.
Pipeline Management & Forecasting
- Maintain up-to-date visibility of opportunities via ClientView and PA inputs, and give insight into upcoming capacity constraints based on pipeline
- Co-lead pipeline calls for A/Cs and PPLs with Staffing HR Associate to give more detailed visibility on upcoming cases
- Keep up to date view of sold and high-probability pipeline on Staffing trello
- Translate pipeline insights into staffing actions, risk flags, and mitigation plans.
Reporting, Analytics & Systems Ownership
- Ensure data completeness and accuracy across staffing tools: SAM, Teambuilder, ClientView, Reporting dashboards, Workday Time-Off, INFOex (case archiving), Trello, and Honestly (teaming surveys).
- Publish weekly staffing, availability, and billability views for leadership and portfolio transparency; contribute to Office, LT, and PPPL meeting materials.
- Partner with Finance on timesheet billing checks and financial allocation accuracy; ensure leave and adjustments are captured correctly.
- Continuously improve processes, policies, and systems; pilot enhancements and share best practices.
People Development, CDC & Talent Programmes
- Participate in the Career Development Committee (CDC) as required for A and C cohorts; reinforce CD messages through staffing decisions and development discussions.
- Provide coaching and career support on experiences, mobility, and capability building; identify stretch opportunities and mentor high-potential talent.
- Contribute to onboarding content and working norms sessions for new joiners and transfers; ensure local staffing guidelines are current.
Africa Staffing Team Oversight (Lagos)
- Lagos HR Specialist: Lead operations: Set day-to-day priorities, QA, and approve complex end-to-end decisions
- Coach the Lagos HR Specialist: Weekly 1:1s; define goals (cycle time, data completeness, forecast accuracy, utilisation); give real-time feedback; build influence, conflict-resolution, and storytelling skills; ensure mastery of SAM, ClientView, AI Tools, Workday Time-Off, INFOex, Honestly.
- Regional rhythm & governance: Run a weekly Africa huddle; align on demand and supply, COS opportunities, and risks; manage coverage plans, leave rotations, and escalations.
Mobility & Immigration Management (50%)
Strategy, Forecasting & Governance
- Lead mobility forecasting and long-term reporting, providing clear visibility into inbound and outbound talent flows.
- Shape and maintain the South Africa mobility strategy in line with global policies, business needs, and local legislation.
- Provide regular mobility updates to leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
Cross-Office Staffing (COS) & Mobility Operations
- Review and oversee inbound and outbound transfer applications through Pathways, taking ownership of the full mobility pipeline.
- Provide guidance on mobility programmes (short-term assignments, transfers, exchanges) and ensure approvals and stakeholder alignment prior to confirmation.
- Ensure successful transfer integration, including pre-arrival coordination and post-arrival check-ins; monitor outcomes and address issues for relocated staff.
- Review transfer memos and salary data for inbound transfers via AssignmentPro.
- Represent the office in regional staffing calls; own COS-related coordination and reporting.
- Coordinate with Mobility HR Associate across Mobility operations, overseeing their work, setting weekly priorities and having regular development chats.
Immigration & Compliance
- Manage end-to-end immigration processes for South Africa, overseeing visa applications, renewals, and status changes for all foreign nationals that are either permanently employed in JNB, transferring to JNB, or cross-office staffed in JNB; supported by the Mobility HR Associate.
- Ensure full compliance with South African immigration legislation and BCG policies, proactively managing risk and escalation.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and audit-ready files for all mobility and immigration activities.
Vendor, Budget & Project Management
- Act as project manager oversight for the immigration vendor, driving accountability, efficiency, and service excellence against agreed SLAs.
- Oversee the South Africa mobility budget, including vendor costs, relocation support, and related expenses; ensure disciplined, ROI-focused spend.
- Track and report on vendor performance, identifying and implementing process and service improvements.
Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track mobility volumes, timelines, costs, and key risk indicators.
- Use data to identify bottlenecks, policy gaps, and improvement opportunities, and translate insights into concrete actions.
- Codify best practices for South Africa and contribute to a 'One Africa' mobility alignment where cross-office coordination is beneficial.
- Continuously improve processes, policies, and systems; pilot enhancements and share best practices.
Stakeholder Partnership & Collaboration
- Build trusted relationships with case leadership, PAs, P&D, Finance, Recruiting, Mobility, OLs/Staffing MDPs, and regional staffing and mobility teams.
- Create clear communication channels (weekly reminders, deployment emails, status updates) and manage expectations with empathy and candour.
- Partner with global and regional mobility teams to ensure alignment of policies, processes, and case handling.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, and Office Leadership to ensure coordinated support for cases and a smooth employee experience.
- Influence senior stakeholders using data and narrative; escalate thoughtfully and drive resolution on conflicts or competing priorities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and case managers on both staffing options and mobility and immigration matters.
Risk, Governance & Inclusion
- Anticipate risks (utilisation, skills gaps, concentration, travel and visa constraints) and develop mitigation plans.
- Uphold confidentiality and compliance with policies; ensure staffing and mobility decisions reflect fairness, equity, and inclusion across backgrounds and experiences.
- Conduct periodic risk reviews; contribute to People Survey analysis relevant to staffing and teaming.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required; postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
- 6–8 years of experience spanning consulting staffing and talent management and/or mobility & immigration, ideally within a professional services or multinational environment.
- Proven end-to-end deployment and pipeline management experience, including ownership of a consulting cohort portfolio.
- Proven team management experience, with a track record of coaching, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of South African immigration legislation and work visa processes.
- Experience managing third-party immigration vendors, including contracts, SLAs, and project oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, reporting, and cross-functional projects.
- Strong data literacy and tool proficiency (e.g., SAM, ClientView, AI Tools like Claude & ChatGPT, MS Office); familiarity with Workday, INFOex, AssignmentPro, and Honestly is a plus.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and partner effectively at senior levels.
- High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive data with discretion.
