Position Overview

Reporting to RICC Director of Hong Kong Hub, the Head of Credit, Taiwan is responsible for leading the Taiwan Credit Team and driving sound credit risk assessment, underwriting, portfolio management, and risk monitoring activities across the country portfolio. As the senior credit leader in Taiwan, the incumbent manages a team of five credit professionals, oversees credit decision-making within delegated authorities, and maintains strong relationships with customers, brokers, buyers, financial institutions, and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of proven expertise in credit risk assessment, underwriting, and client management. This role requires a proactive, business-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to balance risk with commercial opportunities

Key Responsibilities :

Credit Risk Management

• Lead and manage the Taiwan credit portfolio to achieve an optimal balance between risk and business growth.
• Evaluate creditworthiness and make appropriate credit limits in line with our internal Risk Business Model and Risk appetite.
• Make credit underwriting decisions within delegated authority levels; also prepare and present the credit recommendations to a higher authority level by conducting in-depth financial and business analysis of companies across diverse industries.
• Review and approve credit decisions submitted by Taiwan Credit Team.
• Monitor portfolio quality, risk concentrations, industry exposures, and emerging risks.
• Identify early warning signals and implement proactive risk mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Portfolio and Business Management

• Support sustainable portfolio growth by partnering closely with commercial and account management teams.
• Provide credit guidance and risk-based recommendations on new business opportunities and portfolio expansion strategies.
• Balance customer retention objectives with prudent risk management practices.
• Analyze portfolio trends, loss experience, concentration risks, and profitability metrics.

Market Intelligence and Credit Analysis

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of Taiwan's economic environment, industry sectors, and key corporate buyers.
• Conduct sector reviews and market risk assessments.
• Monitor macroeconomic developments, regulatory changes, and business trends that may impact portfolio performance.
• Provide regular insights and recommendations to local and regional management.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of five credit professionals.
• Foster a high-performance culture focused on quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Set clear objectives and monitor individual and team performance.
• Support succession planning and talent development within the credit function.
• Promote effective collaboration between credit, commercial, claims, and risk functions.

Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain relationships with customers, credit information providers, and major buyers.
• Represent the company in meetings with senior client executives and external stakeholders.
• Effectively manage challenging credit discussions and negotiate risk-based solutions.
• Align with Commercial team in steering clients' loss ratio and ensure profitability of our portfolio.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in credit underwriting, credit risk management, commercial banking, trade finance, credit insurance, or related financial institutions.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit risk management, industry risks and Taiwan’s economy.
• Proven leadership experience managing credit or underwriting teams
• Proven track record of client management and business support.
• Ability to execute company visits and contacts, including high level meetings with senior professionals.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Admin, or related field
• Languages: Mandarin (Native) / Proficient in English a must.
• Experience in working for MNCs / a multicultural environment a definite advantage.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
