ACCIONA leads the Alkimos Seawater Alliance, designing, building and operating a $1.4 billion desalination plant for Water Corporation and Jacobs to secure climate-resilient drinking water for Western Australians. The Stage 1 plant will produce 50 gigalitres of drinking water a year, with provision to double capacity in future, and is due to deliver first water in 2028.
About the Opportunity
The Safety Lead, Governance is a senior role reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety on the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant project. You'll drive the implementation of ACCIONA's and the project's safety management system, leading audits, incident investigations and training, and building the reporting and communications that help leaders make informed decisions. You'll also coordinate project-specific processes, mobilisation and onboarding, and work closely with internal stakeholders to keep safety governance on track.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead scheduled audits and stakeholder engagement to assess system performance
- Lead high-level incident investigations
- Deliver inductions and training to build process knowledge
- Develop performance reports to support informed decisions
- Develop communications to raise HS awareness
- Coordinate project-specific processes and manage associated change
- Oversee project mobilisation, onboarding and risk review activities
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary qualification in WHS, engineering or related field
- Proven experience in safety governance on major projects
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and audit processes
- Experience leading incident investigations
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
