Job Requisition ID: 41658

At Deloitte, we help clients make complex technology environments simpler, stronger and more valuable.

We're looking for an Observability Senior Engineer Lead who can bring clarity to enterprise platforms across legacy systems, cloud-native architecture and emerging AI environments. This role is for someone who understands that observability is not just about uptime, infrastructure metrics or dashboard coverage. It is about helping organisations connect technology performance to the outcomes that matter: resilience, compliance, cost, customer experience and business confidence.

What will your typical day look like?

You'll work with clients to define the right instrumentation, shape observability strategy, design scalable architectures and turn telemetry into practical insight. You'll bring a clear point of view, ask the right questions, and help teams make better decisions when systems are under pressure.

In this role, you will design instrumentation and observability architectures for complex enterprise environments. You will present recommendations to client technical leaders, explain the decisions behind your design, work through trade-offs and stay accountable for turning the thinking into outcomes.

You'll help clients answer questions such as:

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You may be a strong fit for this role if you:

What matters for this role

Consulting experience

You have advised clients in a consulting or professional services environment and understand how to work across technical, commercial and stakeholder priorities.

Australian-based experience

You are based in Australia and able to work with Australian clients and teams.

Strong observability foundations

You bring solid experience across OpenTelemetry, platform engineering and SRE practices. You do not need to know every tool in the ecosystem, but you should be able to reason from first principles about instrumentation, collector architecture, sampling, pipeline design and production reliability.

Practical AI fluency

You understand how AI-enabled and agentic systems are designed, evaluated and operated in production. You can look beyond prompt usage and think critically about architecture, reliability, governance, risk and operational impact.

Relevant AWS experience

Much of the platform work in this role runs on AWS, so practical experience across the ecosystem matters more than familiarity with any single service. That typically includes container and orchestration platforms such as EKS, data lake and analytics services such as S3, Glue and Athena, streaming ingestion through Kinesis, and applied AI capability through Bedrock. You don't need expert depth in all of these, but you should be comfortable reasoning about how they fit together in a production architecture, not just naming them.

Relevant certification or equivalent depth

You hold at least one relevant certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk, Datadog or an equivalent credential. More importantly, you can demonstrate depth in at least one platform and apply that depth in client environments.

Breadth across enterprise ecosystems

You are comfortable working across the major cloud, SaaS and enterprise platform environments that large organisations rely on every day.
