As an Associate Director, you’ll build trusted relationships with business stakeholders – and use the most exciting new AWS technologies available – to create data-driven programmes that transform their organisations. Your advice will help clients position their organisations to succeed in an ever-evolving marketplace.

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS Cloud solutions across various industries and client environments.
• Translate complex business requirements into detailed technical designs and architectural blueprints, ensuring alignment with client objectives and Deloitte's best practices.
• Provide expert technical guidance and leadership to project teams, overseeing the successful delivery of AWS engagements from inception to completion.
• Collaborate closely with clients, Deloitte engagement teams, and AWS representatives to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of cloud solutions.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on AWS Cloud strategy and implementation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Deloitte's AWS capabilities, methodologies, and intellectual property.
• Mentor and develop junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Stay abreast of the latest AWS developments, industry trends, and emerging technologies to ensure Deloitte remains at the forefront of cloud innovation.

Essentials

Key consulting skills, with a deep focus on AWS cloud transformation, AI enablement and generative AI adoption, including a number of the following:

• Extensive experience in cloud architecture, with a significant focus on designing and implementing solutions on AWS.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex AWS projects across various domains (e.g., data analytics, application modernisation, infrastructure, security).
• Experience working in a technical pre-sales capacity, producing bid documentation, RFIs, RFPs and participating in technical bid presentation
• Demonstrable ability to provide well-considered, clearly articulated and pragmatic AWS-based solutions and recommendations to complex business and technology challenges.
• Proven ability to prioritise workload, meet project deadlines and drive successful delivery outcomes across AWS-enabled programmes.
• Ability to communicate complex AWS architecture, engineering and migration topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Management of teams, workstreams and deliverables across cloud strategy, migration, modernisation and platform engineering engagements.
• AWS service, partner and product assessment and selection, including evaluation of fit-for-purpose cloud-native and third-party capabilities.
• Assessment of applications for technical suitability, migration approach and modernisation opportunities on AWS.
• Ability to identify, shape and communicate practical AI and generative AI opportunities using AWS services, with clear consideration of business value, risk, governance and operational readiness.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
• Understanding cloud security and compliance best practices.

Desirable

We are looking for candidates with skills and experience in one or more of the following AWS-focused areas:

• Experience working in a client-facing consulting role is highly advantageous.
• AWS cloud architecture and engineering, including the design and delivery of secure, scalable and resilient AWS environments.
• AWS technologies and services across compute, storage, networking, databases, analytics, integration, security and management.
• AI and machine learning services on AWS, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker AI, Amazon Q, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Transcribe, Amazon Rekognition and related managed AI services.
• Generative AI solution design, including foundation model selection, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, model evaluation, responsible AI controls and enterprise integration patterns.
• Data and AI platform architecture on AWS, including data ingestion, governance, feature management, model lifecycle management, MLOps, observability and secure deployment of AI workloads.
• Container technologies such as Docker and associated orchestration platforms including Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS and OpenShift.
• Infrastructure as code development using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK and associated configuration management approaches.
• Cloud automation tooling and CI/CD practices using services and platforms such as AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodeDeploy, GitHub Actions, Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
• DevOps, DevSecOps and platform engineering philosophies, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, automated testing and operational automation.
• Linux and Windows system implementation and management using automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, PowerShell, AWS Systems Manager and related tooling.
• Application deployment, release management and testing toolchains using GitHub, Jenkins, AWS native developer tools and modern source control practices.
• Knowledge of AWS security, identity, networking, resilience, observability and performance considerations, including exposure to security and performance testing processes.
• Experience helping clients define technical, non-functional, security and operational requirements for AWS-based solutions.
• AWS landing zone, cloud environment, networking and account structure design and implementation.
• AWS cloud consulting, migration, modernisation and managed service enablement.
• AWS Professional certifications are highly desirable; additional Speciality and Associate certifications are a plus.
• Defining and delivering an AWS cloud strategy, landing zone approach and operating model that aligns to business, technology and digital strategies.
• Developing the business case for investment in AWS, including migration, modernisation, cost optimisation and operational benefits.
• Selecting the right AWS services, architectural patterns and partner products for secure, resilient and scalable solutions.
• Leading stand-up meetings, technical workshops and delivery governance across AWS programmes.
• Architecting and delivering AWS platforms, workloads and reusable engineering patterns in line with AWS Well-Architected principles.
• Understanding AWS technologies, migration approaches and key cloud challenges including security, resilience, cost management, observability and operational readiness.
• Providing an authoritative point of view on how AWS enables emerging technology trends such as generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, data platforms, serverless, containers and modern application architectures.
• Helping clients design and deliver AI-enabled solutions on AWS using services such as Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker AI, including secure data access, model governance, evaluation, monitoring and integration into business processes.
• Growing relationships, experience and practice capability while maintaining market-leading partnerships with AWS and key AWS ecosystem vendors.
• Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
• Ability, and willingness to, undergo UK National Security Vetting processes.
• Active, or readily transferable, security clearances are highly desirable.
