The role

As a Training Manager for the Corporate Transactions & Advisory ("CTA")/ Private Equity groups, you will be part of a small team responsible for managing, developing and delivering the legal training programme across these groups, with some overlap into other groups, such as Antitrust & Trade, and Funds & Asset Management (CTA, PE, Antitrust & Trade, Funds & Asset Management, collectively referred to as the "Groups").

Who you will work with

As a key part of the role, you will liaise with the Knowledge Director responsible for training of the Groups, and fee-earners in the Groups, to co-ordinate the delivery of training, as well as delivering certain content yourself. You will need to establish credibility and work effectively with Partners, Associates and senior stakeholders in the Firm. You will be a key part of the Knowledge team for the Groups and work closely with the respective Knowledge Lawyers and Information Team. 
 

What you will be responsible for

We are looking for an energetic and dynamic individual who is passionate about learning and development and committed to helping shape an innovative and market leading approach to training. Whilst a background in law or legal training would be advantageous, it is not a prerequisite, and we welcome candidates from both fee earning and non-fee earning backgrounds to apply.
 

What you will do

As part of the team managing and overseeing the training for the Groups, the range of tasks may include the following:

• Create, design, redesign, update, co-ordinate and deliver presentations and courses to fee-earners of all levels in the Groups.
• Use Partner and Associate resource and knowledge to lead training.
• Work closely with other members of the training team and Knowledge team for the Groups and ensure that the training provided meets the needs of the Groups.
• Design, host and deliver certain sessions within the biannual Induction Course for trainee lawyers in the Groups.
• Manage and co-ordinate facilitators for each cohort of the trainee case study programme, updating materials where appropriate.
• Co-ordinate and attend ongoing trainee training (including presentation training) for each cohort of trainees.
• Design, host and deliver the biannual Induction Course for newly qualified lawyers in the Groups.
• Design, host and deliver sessions on the cross-border European Corporate Immersion Courses for junior lawyers in London and Continental Europe.
• Design, host and deliver sessions and courses as part of the wider induction programme for Continental Europe.
• Design and deliver ad hoc training series as required by the Groups (e.g. back to basics series, training on key legal developments). This may sometimes involve liaising with members of other groups in the Firm.
• Play an active part in discussions around developing potential training across different product groups in the Firm.
• Align training programmes with increased use of AI tools.
• Represent the Groups in various internal and external committees as required.
• Attend internal Knowledge and Training meetings, in respect of the Groups, as well as wider Firm matters.
• Co-ordinate and manage external speakers delivering training to the Groups or the wider Firm, including as part of the training linked to the Academy.
• Work with Partners and Associates to design and deliver external client training talks and series, and work with the Information Team to store talks on the Client Talks Database.
• Support the Knowledge Lawyers in the Groups with queries from fee-earners and participate in any projects that the Knowledge Lawyers are leading on (e.g. knowhow filtering/streamlining exercise).
• Deliver talks for Human Resources, such as introductory talks for vacation students and open days.
• Undertake one-off projects as part of the overall strategy of the Groups or the Firm (e.g. supporting on Business Development initiatives).
   

Your experience

• Proven experience designing, developing and delivering training programmes within a legal or professional services environment.
• Experience creating engaging learning solutions for audiences with varying levels of experience and seniority.
• Demonstrable experience managing end-to-end training programmes, including curriculum design, coordination, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement.
• Strong facilitation and presentation experience, with the ability to confidently deliver training to large and diverse audiences.
• Experience working closely with subject matter experts and senior stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality learning content.
• Experience coordinating multiple training initiatives simultaneously, managing competing priorities and delivering against deadlines.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with partners, lawyers, senior business professionals and external providers.
• Experience collaborating across teams to develop and implement training strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Understanding of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and their application in professional learning and knowledge management.

• Excellent presentation, facilitation and training delivery skills, with the ability to engage audiences at all levels.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to identify and understand the training needs of the groups and design effective training solutions to meet those needs.
• Ability to effectively manage and coordinate people, resources and projects.
• Ability to plan, deliver and successfully complete projects and initiatives.
• A proactive and innovative approach to learning and development, including the use of technology and AI-enabled learning tools.

Qualifications

• Legal qualification, legal practitioner experience or experience within a Learning & Development environment.
• Experience within a law firm, Knowledge function or Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) team would be advantageous but not essential.
