AML Officer

Job Purpose
We are looking for an AML Officer to join our team. The job holder will be appointed as the AML Officer for the company and work in Legal and Compliance Department, providing support and advice in relation to AML and Compliance related issues.
What you will do
- Monitor and ensure company’s compliance to procedure’s and obligations, as these are determined by the regulator and relevant authorities, to prevent Money Laundering & Financing of Terrorism, including Economic Sanctions
- Act as point of contact for the management and the employees to report any unusual/ suspicious transaction with regards to money laundering from criminal activities or financing of terrorism, as well as every event they consider that can be associated with such activities
- Develop and roll out corporate policies of the compliance function
- Work closely with Legal Dept., follow legislation developments and informs organization internally for as appropriate for applicable developments
- Provide advice to the business units regarding day-to-day compliance related matters and create hard and soft-controls around adherence to policies whilst performing (enhanced) due diligence
- Inform Local BoD, Regulator and/or Authority responsible, for cases of Suspicious Transactions and provides the authority any relevant useful information regarding the reported cases
- Inform Local BoD, Regulator and Internal Audit for internal procedures, supervises the proper observance of procedures/due diligence, and seeks to improve relevant systems, noticed failures/malfunctions. Communicate to organization and provide clarifications and guidance
- Take appropriate measures and ensure prompt resolution of any audit findings, internal or external audits, and documents accordingly
- Ensure the classification of customers into risk classes & the update of IT system
- Inform distribution partners regularly about Anti-Money Laundering prevention activities
- Examine financial transactions with customers
- Become informed and approve any new product that falls in the scope of AML
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in in Law or and Finance
- Master’s degree or/and relevant professional qualifications are a plus
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services, ideally in insurance industry
- Strong proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent command of Greek and English (spoken, written)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Analytical thinking
- Experienced in the development and roll-out of compliance programs
- Experienced in working independently and with high level of trust and integrity
- Numerical & statistics understandingMaintain open and transparent communication
