Job Description
Purpose of the role
To identify new threats and gaps in detective control and deliver mitigations and countermeasure in order to protect the bank from potential cyber-attacks and respond to threats.
Accountabilities
Develop and execute hypothesis‑driven hunts to identify adversary behaviour, control gaps, or anomalous activity using available telemetry and intelligence.
Delivery of detective controls and countermeasures within agreed efficacy across a range of enterprise security tooling. Tune and remediate detections falling outside defined thresholds.
Provide appropriate documentation and contextual information for new detections to Security Operations Centre (SOC) analysts to ensure effective triage and investigation of security alerts and incidents.
Identify detection and telemetry gaps through Purple Team exercises by collaborating with Red Team activity to assessing whether effective monitoring, prevention and alerting controls exists.
Maintain situational awareness of the threat landscape, including emerging tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and active incidents, to inform prioritisation of threats and candidate detections. Keep abreast of developments in new security defensive tooling and capability.

To be successful as a Geopolitical Intelligence team leader, you must have the following essential skills:
Strong experience leading a geopolitical intelligence, foreign policy, or analytical team, directing the production of strategic assessments, managing complex and fast-moving intelligence requirements, and ensuring intelligence outputs support enterprise risk management, operational resilience, and executive decision-making.
Strong geopolitical intelligence analysis skills, with the ability to assess global political, security, regulatory, and operational developments and determine their impact on the business.
Experience synthesising complex information from multiple sources into clear, actionable intelligence products, strategic assessments, and recommendations.
Ability to identify emerging risks and provide timely insights that support decision-making and enable effective business operations across a global organisation.
Proven communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with experience developing trusted partnerships across government, industry, vendors, and professional networks to enhance intelligence gathering and collaboration.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience working within a regulated financial services environment, with an understanding of how geopolitical and security risks can impact banking operations.
Experience engaging with stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones within a global organisation.
A background in intelligence, international relations, security studies, political risk, or a related field, gained through professional experience and/or relevant qualifications.
You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
