Job Description

Purpose of the role

To provide operating and administrative support to senior leaders, simultaneously shaping and executing long-term strategic change, whilst helping to navigate complex challenges in the performance of their roles

Accountabilities

• Implementation of Target Operating Model, business development, and financial and non-financial resource allocation, providing strategic insight and thought leadership.
• Strategic support to and oversight of demand pipeline and the book of work, including assistance in the development and execution of strategic initiatives, projects, research, and analysis to support decision-making.
• Support to and guidance for operational efficiency and colleague/customer/client experience within the organisation, including the identification of areas for improvement, streamlining of processes, and implementation of best practices to enhance productivity, effectiveness and experience.
• Management of of people plan, talent development and succession planning including the identification of high-potential employees, provision of mentorship and guidance, and support to leadership development and diversity initiatives.
• Communication with internal and external stakeholders, management of communication channels and ensuring effective coordination across different departments and teams.
• Participation in compliance activities such as SMR and other regulatory registrations/certifications, as well as support for crisis management and risk mitigation, including the development of contingency plans, coordination of responses to emergencies, and business continuity.
• Management of all organisational/team requirements relating to technology, real estate, people and communications in conjunction with relevant partners across the firm.
• Enablement of oversight of risk management and compliance with internal and external requirements, including internal Governance on critical control activities in partnership with the CCO team, such as Records Inventory and RCSAs.
• Cost control and workforce management of the Business/Function, including involvement in financial analysis and planning, forecasting, and monitoring of financial performance against targets.

As Business Management evolves to strengthen business partnership, specialist expertise and execution, this role sits at the centre of shaping how the function operates, scales and delivers impact across the franchise.

The Business Management Business Operations Lead is the Business Management partner to the Head of Business Management, accountable for the effective operation, prioritisation and execution of Business Management activities across UK Corporate Banking.

The role is responsible for creating the capacity, structure and discipline that enables Business Management teams to focus on delivering strategic outcomes for the business, while driving end-to-end execution, issue resolution and continuous improvement across the function.

Key Accountabilities:

• Drive execution of the Business Management strategy and priorities, translating leadership objectives into clear plans, delivery and measurable outcomes.
• Shape and oversee the Business Management operating agenda, driving prioritisation, organisational effectiveness and continuous improvement across the function.
• Coordinate specialist capability and resources across Business Management, Change Management and Centres of Excellence to deliver strategic and operational priorities efficiently and at scale.
• Maintain oversight of key priorities, commitments, risks and dependencies, ensuring effective governance, transparency and accountability for delivery.
• Build lasting  relationships across UK Corporate Banking and the wider firm to align stakeholders, influence outcomes and deliver functional and franchise-wide objectives.
• Delivering strategic support to Coverage and the wider business.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience in Corporate Banking is essential.
• Oversee key priorities, commitments, risks and dependencies, ensuring effective governance, transparency and informed decision-making
• Solid track record of delivering strategic projects, transformation programmes and execution.
• Solid commercial acumen
• An eye for numbers and ability to analyse complex data into messaging

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesise complex detailed information for a senior audience.
• Proficient in a range of key business tools and Office 365
• Excellent influencing skills, negotiation and presentation skills

Desirable skills include:

• Familiarity with Financial Reporting, including processes
• Organisational awareness across multiple areas of the organisation (how to get things done).
• Proven track record of working across a complex matrix organisation
• Experience working in Business Management or Strategy roles
