At Eni, we are looking for an HSE Superintendent within Eni Natural Energies (ENE) in Mozambique. You will be responsible for responsible for developing HSE Management System in line with Eni HSE Requirements and providing field supervision and technical support to ensure effective implementation and enforcement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and standards across all ENE operations.
Main responsibilities
• Support the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the HSE Management System across project activities.
• Provide HSE advice and support to both office and field teams across agriculture, logistics, processing, storage and port operations.
• Ensure activities are carried out safely, with minimal environmental impact and in compliance with project requirements and local legislation.
• Support the implementation of environmental programmes, including Environmental, Social & Human Rights Management Plans and waste management processes.
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, permits and applicable legislation.
• Develop and support HSE initiatives, campaigns and programmes designed to improve safety performance and strengthen HSE leadership and culture.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and support the achievement of the company's HSE objectives.
• Ensure incidents are appropriately reported, investigated and closed out, with corrective actions effectively implemented.
• Communicate lessons learned from incidents and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Maintain and communicate HSE performance statistics, KPIs and reporting, ensuring accurate monitoring against project targets.
• Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits, identifying areas of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the development and implementation of an effective Emergency Response Plan covering all project activities.
• Attend pre-job, planning and contractor meetings, providing HSE guidance and ensuring agreed actions are followed through.
• Provide regular HSE updates and reporting to the Project Manager.
Skills and experience required:
• Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' HSE experience within Oil & Gas, construction, industrial or agro-processing environments.
• Experience within agribusiness, oil processing, food production or similar industries would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• NEBOSH, IOSH or an equivalent internationally recognised HSE certification.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different cultures and with local communities.
• Comfortable working in remote and challenging locations and adapting to different working environments.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and develop national/local staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• A proactive and practical approach to identifying risks, improving HSE performance and developing a strong safety culture.
