Western Power's Clean Energy Link is a landmark, large-scale infrastructure investment shaping Western Australia's energy future — delivering the transmission network needed to support growing renewable generation and a more reliable power system. About the Opportunity
As Design Manager, Transmission, you'll lead the planning, coordination and delivery of transmission line and substation designs across HV and MV infrastructure. You'll oversee design inputs and outputs from inception through delivery, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering, construction and client teams. The role covers overhead lines, underground cables, structures, and protection and control systems, and gives you the mandate to drive technical consistency, manage risk, and shape how design solutions perform across the project.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead transmission line and substation design from concept to detail
- Manage design interfaces across HV and MV infrastructure
- Drive constructability, systems integration and technical governance
- Oversee cost, schedule, design change and risk using CPI, SPI and EVM
- Lead SiD, HAZID/HAZOP and CoM reviews and deliverables
- Mentor junior engineers and build internal design capability
- Manage external consultants and cross-functional communication
Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years leading HV transmission (220kV+) design, concept to detail
- 5+ years fieldwork supporting hands-on engineering and site work
- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE and AS/NZS standards
- Chartered status (RPEV, RPEQ, NER, CPEng) or working towards
- Ability to complete a successful pre-employment medical and National Crime check.
