Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Manager Underground Mine Planning & Studies, the role of the incumbent will be to drive medium-term mine planning in order to translate the mine's strategic objectives into realistic, safe and executable production plans. He/She will lead a team of specialists responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining mine plans and programs taking into account operational, geological, geotechnical, hydrological, ventilation and backfill constraints. This role is key to improving production predictability, optimizing resources and controlling the discrepancies between plans and execution. The incumbent will work closely with Mining Operations, Technical Services and Projects to ensure that plans provide a solid basis for operational execution, while meeting safety, production and cost objectives

 

He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • University degree in Mining Engineering, Mining Geology or relevant technical field.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in mine planning, engineering or production.
  • Significant experience in underground mine planning (ideally in hard rock).
  • Demonstrated practice in the development of production plans, operating sequences and medium-term programming.
  • Experience in performance analysis and production variance management.
  • Successful experience in supervising, supporting and developing a technical team.
  • Experience in an international mining environment.
  • Knowledge of copper and cobalt mining.
  • Fluency in French and/or Swahili.

Technical skills.

 

  • Advanced proficiency in Deswik software  (planning and programming).
  • Strong design skills, hard rock mining methods, and underground sequencing.
  • Ability to integrate multiple technical constraints (geological, hydrological, geotechnical, ventilation, backfilling) into the plans.
  • Mastery of data analysis techniques (planned/realized deviations, impact on equipment and infrastructure).
  • Skills in modeling alternative scenarios for operational risk management.
  • Cost control, resource optimization and conduct of mining engineering studies.
  • Excellent ability to write technical reports and strategic recommendations
