About the role

You will join the BMP Retail team, where we are driving the adoption of AI-first engineering practices, Agentic AI, and Spec-Driven Development (SDD) across multiple lines of business. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building intelligent, scalable, and production-ready solutions that accelerate software delivery while ensuring quality, governance, and compliance.

What you do

• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and opportunities, translating them into clear solution requirements and success criteria.
• Design end-to-end AI-enabled solutions, defining domain models, API contracts, data schemas, decision rules, and policies that serve as the foundation for development and automation.
• Drive the adoption of Spec-Driven Development (SDD) practices, using specifications as a single source of truth to enable AI-assisted generation, validation, testing, and documentation of software solutions.
• Develop and integrate AI-powered tools, agents, and orchestrators that improve efficiency, quality, and speed throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Design and implement robust integrations with internal APIs, databases, search platforms, and enterprise services while ensuring secure access control and governance standards.
• Deliver scalable backend services, APIs, data layers, and frontend capabilities that support BMP Retail products and business processes.
• Continuously improve AI agents, prompts, specifications, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails to enhance solution quality, reliability, and business value.
• Participate in architecture discussions, specification reviews, code reviews, testing activities, demonstrations, and troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
• Contribute to effort estimation, feasibility assessments, and technical decision-making within agile development teams.
• Promote engineering excellence through best practices, documentation, automation, and knowledge sharing.

What you bring

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, combined with 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Strong programming expertise in modern languages such as Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript, with solid software engineering fundamentals and experience working with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents.
• Hands-on experience with AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation methodologies.
• Practical knowledge of Spec-Driven Development (SDD), Contract-First Design, or related approaches, using technologies such as OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema, Protocol Buffers, or policy-as-code frameworks.
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions in Azure, AWS, or OCI, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and integration patterns, including API-First Design, Event-Driven Architecture, Hexagonal Architecture, microservices, and messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in agile environments and proficiency in English (B2 level or higher).

Nice to have

• Experience applying Spec-Driven Development to AI-powered systems and agentic architectures.
• Insurance industry knowledge and familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, DORA, or the EU AI Act.
• Experience working in international and distributed software development organizations.
