Job Description

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the UK Corporate Banking division, providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed client focussed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

The Barclays UK Corporate bank oversees senior corporate coverage within the bank's home market. This unit strategically collaborates with major corporate clients in the UK to address their banking requirements. What distinguishes us is our industry-specialised approach, ensuring all our staff are experts within our chosen markets. With regional offices providing nationwide coverage, we can effectively assist and engage with all UK corporations, utilising a localised relationship model.

On the Graduate programme, you will gain foundational banking knowledge, teaching you about a bank's role in the UK economy. You will help aid strategic clients with diverse needs, from everyday banking to intricate mergers, acquisitions, and broader areas like Environmental, Social and Governance planning. As a UK Corporate graduate, you'll learn vital relationship and technical skills for a banking career. Our aim is to shape graduates into future Relationship Directors and technical experts representing Barclays Corporate bank. Throughout your tenure, you will engage with various banking divisions, mastering the skills required for exceptional Corporate banking. You'll tackle complex corporate transactions, aiding clients in achieving growth and success.

UK Corporate Bank supports large and medium corporate clients turning over £6.5m pa up to FTSE 350 firms. We provide the financial and advisory capabilities UK businesses need –day-to-day banking to complex corporate financing arrangements. Our dedicated sector and regional specialists leverage market-leading relationships, powerful data and insights, and the wider Barclays network, to deliver innovative financing solutions that help achieve a more expansive, better-connected future for our clients.

Who we're looking for

To be considered for this programme, you must be motivated and curious with a degree or expected degree in any area.

Ideally, you'll be interested in the UK corporate marketplace and have analytical skills. You'll have some experience translating data and be a good communicator. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities.

Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa. Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who we are therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from August 2027 to August 2029.
