Global Environment Manager

 

Department: Copper - HSEC & Human Rights
Location: Baar, Switzerland
Reports To: Copper Head of HSEC & Human Rights
Direct Reports: 2
Working Scheme: Office based with regular international travel to Copper assets.

 

Primary Purpose

To lead the development and execution of environmental and climate strategy across the Copper Department, ensuring compliance with corporate and external standards, minimising environmental impacts, advancing decarbonisation and strengthening resilience to physical climate risks across all copper operations and projects globally. The role provides strategic direction on environmental and climate-related risks and opportunities, oversees monitoring, reporting and assurance, and represents Copper in Group forums and external engagements.

 

Operating Context

The Global Environment Manager operates within a complex international portfolio of operating mines, processing facilities, smelters, development projects and joint ventures spanning multiple jurisdictions and regulatory environments. The role supports Copper operations across regions including South America, North America and Africa, where environmental performance, climate resilience, biodiversity stewardship, water management and decarbonisation are of strategic importance to long-term business success.

Operating within the Copper HSEC & HR leadership structure, the role collaborates extensively with operational, project, technical, financial and corporate teams to ensure environmental considerations are effectively integrated into business planning, capital allocation, project development and operational decision-making. The position must balance environmental risk management, regulatory compliance, stakeholder expectations and commercial priorities while driving continuous improvement and sustainable value creation across the portfolio.
