Job Overview

The Global Fixed Income Trade Processing (FiTP) Team is seeking an AI Engineering Lead to drive Best practices and adoption of AI tooling in the development process with a framework to measure and re-invest the savings back to the development process, while improving the developer productivity in the process.

This role is within the FiTP team in Pune. The successful individual will ideally have a, wide range of technical expertise in software development and experience in the architect and design of large, complex and distributed software systems. Candidates possessing knowledge of Fixed Income products is an advantage.

In this fast-paced environment the candidate must be able to set priorities between various goals, taking a pragmatic and thoughtful approach, paying close attention to details and guide the team to engineering excellence. The candidate will be expected to stay abreast of developments within own field, contribute to directional strategy, and be a recognized technical authority within the business unit.

The AI Engineering Lead will have the following characteristics: 

• Proven track record of using latest AI tools and implement the best practices in the adoption of the tool.
• Proven background in architect and design of large distributed systems to address complex business problems.
• Keen to produce well-crafted software living up to highest quality standards.
• Close follower of new development and trends in software industry.
• Developed strong opinions on good engineering practices in all areas of software development.
• Enthusiastic in continuous optimization of engineering practice and technology stack.
• Self-motivated and with determination to achieve goals.
• Good team working skills and ability to work in a virtual team environment.
• Ability to think critically, identify improvement opportunities within application and team, come up with solutions and drive the execution.
• Well-organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks to achieve maximum output.

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
• Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
• Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
• Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Recommended Qualifications:

The AI engineering Lead will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Lead the adoption of AI tools to improve the productivity of the team [across BA/Dev and QA roles], transformation from a slow waterfall development model to fast based agile model and improving productivity, quality and time-to-market.
• Based on status of our applications and team, layout clear path and actionable tasks towards the desired status of application and team maturity.
• Participate and drive the decision making in the architecture and design of important projects.
• Drive code quality improvement across the FiTP, helping teams with their practical obstacles in following clean code principles.
• Drive the standardization, optimization and consolidation of technology stack across FiTP.
• Drive best practices within and across organizational vertical and influence adoption.
• Help to establish a common practice in every aspect of software development across FiTP, making sure that developers can move freely from one project to another without significant learning curve.
• Drive the adoption or build of necessary tooling to improve productivity and achieve engineering goals.
• Participant in solution architecture discussion with partner applications when required, making sure the result conforms with firm-wide standards and FiTP engineering goals, without bringing in tech debt.
• Establish forward looking plans of evolving architecture, technology and process to sustain business growth and regulatory requirements.
• Be an ultimate consultation point of difficult engineering and technical issues, in development as well as in production.
• Guide and mentor tech leads and developers on their career path growth in engineering.

Qualifications:

• Educated to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent.
• 15+ years of hands-on experience in design and development of large-scale distributed applications.
