Role Overview
We are looking for a Strategy Consultant with strong Payments domain experience to support a strategic advisory engagement within Retail Banking.
This is a strategy-focused role with an emphasis on discovery, research, analysis and development of strategic recommendations, rather than execution or implementation.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the payments ecosystem and be able to assess market, regulatory and industry developments, identify strategic implications, and translate complex findings into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic advisory and discovery work across the retail banking payments landscape.
- Conduct research and analysis across payment rails, payment gateways, domestic and cross-border payments, and the broader payments ecosystem.
- Assess market trends, regulatory developments, industry dynamics and emerging payment models to identify implications and opportunities for the client.
- Structure ambiguous business questions into clear workstreams, hypotheses and areas for analysis.
- Conduct current-state, market and competitive assessments to develop a fact base for strategic decision-making.
- Synthesise quantitative and qualitative findings into clear insights, strategic implications and recommendations.
- Develop and evaluate strategic options, including key considerations, trade-offs, opportunities and risks.
- Support stakeholder interviews, discovery discussions and workshops to gather perspectives and validate hypotheses.
- Develop compelling executive-level presentations and strategy decks, with clear storylines and evidence-based recommendations.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to senior client and internal stakeholders.
Experience & Skills
- Experience in strategy consulting, management consulting, financial services advisory or an equivalent strategy-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of retail banking payments, including payment rails, payment gateways and the broader payments ecosystem.
- Good understanding of the local payments and regulatory landscape, including both domestic and cross-border payments.
- Strong strategic and commercial thinking, with the ability to understand the implications of market and regulatory developments.
- Demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex or ambiguous business problems.
- Strong research, analytical and synthesis capabilities.
- Excellent PowerPoint and slide-writing skills, with the ability to build clear, concise and senior-management-ready storylines.
- Ability to translate detailed analysis into actionable strategic recommendations.
- Strong communication and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
