Senior Real Estate Underwriter

This is an exciting opportunity to join our London Market Real Estate team as a Senior Real Estate Underwriter.
You will take ownership of new and existing business development across Real Estate lines. You will work closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to identify, shape, and secure high-quality opportunities while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
You’ll participate in the Allianz Global P&C Academy, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Allianz Insurance supports professional qualifications, such as IFoA and CII, where considered appropriate for the business and the individual.
This is a hybrid role based out of our London office, with an expectation to attend the office 3 days per week.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £65,000 per year.
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:
- Underwrite new business across Real Estate risks in line with Allianz underwriting appetite and authority levels
- Proactively identify and develop new broker relationships, driving growth through strong market engagement
- Analyse risk exposures, terms, and pricing using data and underwriting tools
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and internal teams
- Contribute to regional business plans and growth strategies
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards
- Act as a senior referral point and mentor for less experienced underwriters where appropriate
Essential Skills
We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:
- Extensive experience in Real Estate underwriting, with the capability to manage complex and high‑value risks
- The confidence and capability to coach, develop and support colleagues, acting as a technical referral point within the team
- Proven experience in owning and managing key broker relationships, including large and complex case management
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships and work collaboratively across the business
Desirable Skills
- ACII Qualified or progressing towards
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
