Job summary
As a Construction management associate, construction lending in the Construction Management team, you review construction documentation, monitor project progress, and identify risks that may impact a property during the term of the loan. You help ensure projects remain feasible, compliant, and aligned to lending terms by escalating issues early and partnering with stakeholders on solutions. You support consistent execution from initiation through closeout and contribute to a culture of ownership, strong controls, and thoughtful decision-making.
Job responsibilities
- Review construction documents to assess project viability and alignment with lending terms and risk requirements
- Monitor project progress from initiation through closeout and escalate issues that may impact the property
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support smooth execution and timely issue resolution
- Apply knowledge of construction materials, methods, standard practices, and building codes across multiple asset types
- Document findings, decisions, and follow-ups in a clear and timely manner to support effective controls
- Coordinate with third-party consultants to validate progress, risks, and documentation quality, as needed
- Identify trends and recurring issues and recommend practical improvements to reduce risk and rework
- Apply structured problem-solving to support business review and resiliency efforts
- Prioritize and manage multiple active projects to support on-time delivery and consistent outcomes
- Coach junior team members through feedback, knowledge sharing, and day-to-day support
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 3 years of experience in construction management, construction lending support, or a closely related field
- Ability to review and interpret construction documents, including plans, budgets, schedules, and contracts
- Ability to identify, assess, and escalate construction-related risks and issues in a timely manner
- Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, standard practices, and applicable building codes
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and maintaining effective working relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear documentation and updates
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with experience managing multiple priorities
- Ability to perform effectively under time constraints and shifting priorities while maintaining sound judgment
- Proficiency with common business tools (email, spreadsheets, and document management) for reporting and tracking
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience supporting commercial and/or multi-family construction projects and related loan structures
- Experience creating clear, quantitative tracking and status reporting for project and risk monitoring
- Experience driving continuous improvement and streamlining workflows
- Experience partnering with third-party consultants (for example, inspectors or cost reviewers)
- Strong digital literacy and comfort learning new systems and processes
- Developing experience using AI-powered analytics, workflow automation, or intelligent process tools to drive efficiency gains, reduce manual effort, or improve accuracy in operational processes.
