Job Description

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Join us as a Business Banking Economic Crime Tool & Model Lead, where you will provide strategic and team leadership as well as Business Banking ownership for Economic Crime tools and models used to identify, quantify exposure, and prioritise activity to manage the Economic Crime Risk across the business. This will include holding the strategic vision for the estate of tools and models for Business Banking, seeking to drive enhancements in line with Group strategy as well as technological and data advances.

You will drive the identification, assessment, and mitigation of emerging economic crime risks, leveraging horizon scanning, data insights, and industry expertise to strengthen the control environment. Working closely with Technology, Change, Operations, Decision Analytics, Compliance, and business stakeholders, you will oversee all tools and models, and their enhancements, ensuring solutions remain aligned with regulatory expectations and evolving risk typologies.

You will be leading a team accountable for documenting business requirements, overseeing development and testing, monitoring, and assessing efficacy and stability, managing calibrations, and the ongoing optimisation of both owned and consumed tools from across the Barclays estate of Financial Crime tools. You will ensure effective stakeholder management, including reporting to Senior Executives and responses to Regulators and second & third line reviews.

As a people leader, you will develop and grow a team of subject matter experts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence. You will also play a key role in change initiatives, translating business requirements into effective technical solutions, leading assurance and User Acceptance Testing activities, ensuring robust governance throughout the change lifecycle.
