Tax Manager - France Payroll

Work you’ll do
Increasingly complex tax decisions can have a significant effect—positive or negative—on the future of clients’ business. Our approach combines insight and innovation from multiple disciplines with business and industry knowledge to help clients excel globally.
To list some of key responsibilities: -
- Manage the full payroll lifecycle, including payroll preparation, validation, reconciliation, and client sign-off.
- Manage multiple clients and ensure payroll delivery meets agreed timelines, quality standards, and SLAs.
- Interpret French payroll legislation and apply statutory requirements, manual calculations, and payroll adjustments.
- Support expatriate and shadow payroll calculations.
- Coordinate payroll transitions, system setup, data validation, parallel testing, and go-live activities.
- Review payroll outputs, investigate variances, and resolve issues with the relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with delivery centers, HR, finance, payroll vendors, and client teams to ensure timely payroll processing.
- Prepare regular internal and client status reports covering progress, risks, issues, and outstanding activities.
- Manage, mentor, and coach a payroll team while contributing individually to payroll delivery.
- Support continuous improvement, process documentation, knowledge transfer, and payroll control activities.
- Draft clear and professional client communications and respond effectively to payroll queries.
The Team
The Deloitte Payroll team based in Hyderabad and in Bangalore specializes in three core areas: France payroll management and governance and other support work for global tax outsourcing projects. On taking up a position with the France team, you will have the opportunity to focus on at least two of these core specialisms.
Qualification
- 4+ years of hands-on experience managing and processing French payroll, including payroll review, validation, and client sign-off.
- Strong knowledge of French payroll legislation, PAS, URSSAF, CSG/CRDS, social contributions, DSN, and statutory requirements.
- Experience handling court orders, leave and absence adjustments, deductions, salary increases, proration, bonuses, back pay, and termination payments.
- Ability to perform payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, audits, and gross-to-net validation.
- Experience with in-house, outsourced, shadow, expatriate, or cross-border payroll is preferred.
- Proven experience managing engagement finances and leading, mentoring, and coaching team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and understanding of French.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and macros, along with Word and PowerPoint.
- Degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, HR, or an equivalent discipline.
- Recognized French payroll certification is an added advantage.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS integrations, parallel testing, and payroll process improvements is preferred.
Work Location: Bangalore
Experience- 10 -15 years.
Shift Timings: 11 AM to 8 PM IST | 2 PM to 11 PM IST.
