MUFG is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Financial Crime Compliance Testing to join their Global Financial Crimes Division in London. What you'll do:
As an Assistant Vice President, Financial Crime Compliance Testing at MUFG in London, you will immerse yourself in the day-to-day execution of deep dives into financial crime compliance processes. Your role centres around evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls established to identify, monitor, and mitigate financial crime risks across global operations. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from various departments while developing robust testing plans that incorporate regulatory requirements and best practice methodologies. Your responsibilities include preparing insightful reports for senior management, validating remediation actions taken by business units, tracking issue closure through co-operative engagement with other teams, monitoring regulatory changes that impact compliance frameworks, and supporting governance initiatives. Success in this role requires you to be dependable in maintaining high standards of quality control while nurturing effective relationships with stakeholders. Conduct thorough financial crime compliance reviews across global business operations to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and frameworks designed to prevent money laundering, sanctions breaches, and bribery or corruption.
Develop and maintain detailed testing plans, scripts, procedures, and sampling methodologies that reflect regulatory expectations as well as industry best practice.
Support the implementation of a coordinated, consistent, and risk-based financial crime testing programme that aligns with organisational objectives.
Maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure adherence to Global Testing Standards throughout all review activities.
Prepare, review, and contribute to comprehensive testing reports summarising objectives, scope, methodology, findings, and conclusions for senior stakeholders.
Validate Management Action Plans designed to address remediation activities arising from testing reviews and identified issues.
Coordinate with Issue Management functions to monitor and track remediation activities and issue closure across multiple entities.
Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends that may require adjustments to testing approaches or additional review activity.
Support governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities across the function by providing clear communication and documentation.
Assist with wider compliance activities and special projects as assigned by management, contributing positively to the overall compliance culture.
What you bring:
In the Assistant Vice President, Financial Crime Compliance Testing role at MUFG you will bring proven experience from compliance-related functions within regulated environments. Your background includes preparing detailed reports supported by robust evidence as well as reviewing policies that underpin strong control frameworks. You possess knowledge of anti-money laundering legislation alongside broader financial crime compliance principles which enable you to assess risks thoughtfully. Experience within compliance, audit, assurance, risk management or control testing functions gained in a regulated financial services environment is essential for this role.
Proven ability preparing reports, testing documentation and supporting evidence that demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience reviewing policies, procedures and control frameworks within large organisations.
Knowledge of financial crime compliance principles including anti-money laundering legislation and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills enabling you to investigate complex information effectively while identifying key risks and control weaknesses.
Excellent report writing skills coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are required for success.
Ability to analyse complex information sensitively while maintaining consideration for diverse perspectives within the team.
Professional qualification in compliance, risk management, audit or financial crime compliance is preferred but not mandatory.
Understanding of European financial crime regulatory requirements such as the Sixth Money Laundering Directive would be advantageous.
Excellent interpersonal skills allowing you to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across multiple entities.
