Title and Summary
Lead Platform Engineer (SME Jfrog Artifactory)DevOps & SRE Lead – JFrog Artifactory SME (12+ Years)Mastercard
Overview
MSBX (Mastercard Secure Build Experience) is transforming how more than 11,000 software engineers build, test, and deliver software across Mastercard. Our mission is to provide a secure, resilient, and frictionless software delivery ecosystem, enabling engineers to focus on customer value rather than infrastructure complexity.
DevFlow is a cornerstone of this mission, modernizing Mastercard’s CI/CD ecosystem through secure, scalable, and cloud-ready engineering platforms. Artifactory is a critical part of this ecosystem, providing enterprise artifact management across on-premises, Azure, and AWS environments. DevFlow is built for enterprise scale, reliability, security, and developer trust.
This role sits at the intersection of DevOps and SRE, providing technical ownership and operational excellence for the enterprise Artifactory platform across on-premises and cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
The Role
As a Lead, you will provide technical leadership and end-to-end ownership of the JFrog Artifactory platform across on-premises, AWS, and Azure environments, covering platform architecture, engineering, reliability, security, automation, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
You will act as a hands-on Artifactory platform leader, designing, engineering, and operating enterprise Artifactory services across on-premises and cloud environments. You will drive platform standards, automation, operational resilience, and developer experience while ensuring Artifactory remains secure, scalable, highly available, and easy to consume.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & CI/CD Leadership
• Lead the design, delivery, and evolution of enterprise JFrog Artifactory capabilities across on-premises, AWS, and Azure environments, with secondary responsibilities across SonarQube, Bitbucket, and broader CI/CD capabilities.
• Drive consistent adoption of artifact lifecycle, repository management, artifact promotion, and secure build practices across engineering teams.
• Treat Artifactory as a product, prioritizing developer experience, platform stability, security, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
DevOps & Automation
• Design and maintain Artifactory automation, integrations, shared pipeline components, templates, and automation frameworks that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
• Enable scalable and repeatable CI/CD execution using Artifactory across on-premises and cloud environments, including containerized and ephemeral build environments.
SRE & Operational Ownership
• Own the operational health of the Artifactory platform across on-premises, AWS, and Azure environments, including:
○ Reliability, availability, and performance
○ Monitoring, alerting, and observability
○ Capacity, storage, and platform health
○ Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery readiness
• Partner on incident response, root cause analysis, and blameless postmortems, ensuring learnings are incorporated into platform improvements and automation.
• Drive platform upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and operational automation to maintain security, reliability, and supportability.
• Improve monitoring and feedback loops so platform issues are identified early and resolved with minimal impact to engineering teams.
• Provide secondary operational support and engineering contribution across SonarQube, Bitbucket, and related CI/CD capabilities.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
• Lead pragmatic design and trade-off discussions across on-premises, AWS, and Azure environments, balancing speed, reliability, security, scalability, and cost.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for Artifactory architecture, integrations, automation, upgrades, and platform engineering, while contributing to SonarQube, Bitbucket, and broader CI/CD initiatives as needed.
• Contribute reusable patterns, automation, and engineering practices through platform communities and engineering guilds.
• Strong production ownership mindset, with hands-on experience operating Artifactory and Linux/Unix-based platforms.
• Experience improving platform reliability through monitoring, alerting, observability, resilience, capacity management, and automation.
• Experience establishing monitoring and observability for Artifactory across on-premises, AWS, and Azure environments.
• Strong focus on availability, performance, storage health, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery readiness.
