APAC Settlement/Payment Risk Credit Officer

Who we are looking for
We are looking for a regional Settlement/Payment Risk Credit Officer reporting directly to Head of APAC Credit. The role is primarily responsible for monitoring and approval of settlement credit exposures for the APAC region, and to escalate identified risks as appropriate. This role will be a key part of the risk management team, providing a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic risk management environment.
Why this role is important to us
The Credit Risk team you will be joining is a part of the Financial Risk function of the State Street’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) department, a function that is vital to the company as a Second Line of Defense for overseeing the risk-taking activities of the First Line (FLOD), and independently identifying, measuring, monitoring, controlling, and reporting aggregate risks.
What you will be responsible for
As a Settlement/Payment Risk Credit Officer, you will:
Global monitoring and approval of settlement credit exposures for the APAC region, including Daylight overdrafts (DLOD) and End-of-day overdrafts (OD).
Assess availability of funding by end-of-day based on evidence or confirmation.
Evaluate the risk rationale for approving exceptions and consider materiality of overdraft exposure, and communicate to the business lines for exception remediation.
Perform daily monitoring of DLOD and OD exposures, review and respond to transaction exceptions and fails, and ensure timely escalation of material exposures to Credit Risk.
Review and approve Daylight Overdraft Approval Memos in specified sites - Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
Respond to Boston credit risk requests including but not limited to review on aged ODs, high value ODs.
Respond to FLOD on settlement credit questions related to Credit Risk Guidelines and risk approval processes from Client Services teams / clients.
Coordinate across multiple stakeholders, e.g. FLOD on follow-up on large overdrafts and support FRB reporting requirements; and issues escalation to RMCOE.
Closely monitoring credit counterparties and market events using a variety of internal management tools and escalating key issues to Head of APAC Credit and Head of International Credit.
Make credit decisions, including exception approvals, within delegated credit authority, and subject to application of State Street’s stated risk appetite and application of policies and procedures.
Develop a close working relationship with other risk functions and internal control functions across the group and particularly the ERM Credit teams in EMEA and the US.
Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity and ensure compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills combined with critical thinking
Experience managing competing priorities within tight time constraints
Willingness to work with others on the team on special projects
Education & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics or related field
Fluent in English
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst or Credit Officer
Additional requirements

Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels, from junior credit analysts to senior management
Work Requirement
Hybrid work requirement - 4 days in office.
