To lead and govern end-to-end test delivery and governance for the GCIO organisation as part of the strategic GDCW data centre migration programme. This role will play a critical leadership function in ensuring successful migration of applications to the new data centre (GDCE/GDCW), while maintaining high standards of quality, risk management, and business continuity.
The Testing Lead will be accountable for test strategy execution, delivery oversight, and governance across multiple domains, including Group Functions (GF), WRB, CIB, and other GCIO portfolios
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
• Define and drive the overall application-level testing strategy for GCIO under the GDCW programme, aligned to migration timelines and business priorities
• Establish a standardised, scalable testing approach across domains covering system, integration, business, performance and migration testing cycles.
• Embed AI-driven and automation-led testing strategy to improve quality, speed, and coverage
• Align testing objectives with programme outcomes – seamless migration, minimal disruption, and regulatory compliance
Business
• Ensure validation of critical business journeys, IBS applications, and customer-impacting flows during migration
• Partner with Business & Operations teams to confirm readiness and acceptance prior to cutover
• Support business continuity through effective pre-migration, dress rehearsal, and go-live validations
• Drive accountability for business signoffs and production readiness
Processes
• Establish and standardise end-to-end test lifecycle processes (planning, design, execution, defect management, sign-off)
• Govern execution of Migration Test Plans (MTP), test case management, and execution tracking in ADO
• Ensure structured execution of test phases – pre-prod testing, integration testing, business validation, and dress rehearsals.
• Continuously improve testing processes to enhance efficiency, traceability, and quality outcomes
Risk Management
• Identify, assess, and mitigate testing risks across applications, environments, and dependencies
• Ensure coverage of data migration, integration dependencies, resilience, and failover scenarios
• Proactively manage defects, blockers, and cross-domain risks impacting migration timelines
• Support programme objective of near-zero business disruption during cutover
Governance
• Establish strong test governance framework including reporting, auditability, and control mechanisms
• Lead defect triage forums, readiness reviews, and testing governance cadence (weekly dashboards, CXO reports)
• Provide transparent status reporting on test progress, risks, and readiness to GCIO and COO stakeholders
• Ensure adherence to programme milestones, release train schedules, and quality gates
Regulatory & Business Conduct
• Ensure all testing activities comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards
• Maintain strong controls over data integrity, security validations, and operational readiness testing
• Support compliance with risk, governance, and control frameworks during DC migration
• Uphold organisation values of integrity, accountability, and responsible technology delivery
