About the Job
The DevOps Lead is accountable end-to-end for platform stability, release readiness, and observability during the critical hypercare period after go-live, and for establishing the monitoring, alerting, and on-call framework that sustains the platform beyond that period. Acting as the single point of accountability for DevOps deliverables until a permanent incumbent is onboarded, this role ensures continuity of service and a smooth handover. You will coordinate closely with Development, Testing, and IT Operations to secure hotfix capacity, keep pipelines deployment-ready, and maintain rigorous pre/post-deployment controls. You will also drive automation and AI-assisted practices to improve reliability, speed of recovery, and operational excellence.
What you do
- Continuously monitor production systems during hypercare; respond to incidents in real time and coordinate resolution.
- Secure development capacity to deliver hotfixes across Development and Testing environments; ensure rapid, controlled releases. Keep CI/CD pipelines fully operational and ready for short-notice deployments; enforce pre- and post-deployment checklists.
- Define alert thresholds and escalation/notification matrices; design and manage the on-call rota and staffing coverage per technical layer. Own dashboard design, data accuracy, and ongoing maintenance for service health, SLOs, and release readiness.
- Implement synthetic testing and transaction monitoring across critical business flows; drive proactive detection.
- Lead major incident communications and status/risk reporting to senior stakeholders under time pressure.
- Build repeatable operational processes (checklists, rotas, dashboards); document runbooks and handover materials.
- Serve as interim end-to-end accountable owner for hypercare stability and observability until transition to the permanent role.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience leading DevOps/SRE functions, ideally in regulated financial services or insurance environments.
- Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment automation in production.
- Strong background in monitoring and observability (dashboards, alerting, synthetic/transaction monitoring) and on-call models.
- Working knowledge of incident and hotfix management in post-go-live/hypercare contexts; crisp stakeholder communi-cations.
- Ability to operate as a single point of accountability across distributed teams; structured, pragmatic process builder.
- Active use of AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) with concrete examples on your CV.
- Familiarity with Machine learning is a strong advantage.
