Formerly known as ING Tech, as of 2022 we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities under the name of ING Hubs Romania and operate from two locations: Bucharest and Cluj.
With the help of 1800 engineers, risk and operations professionals, we offer 150 services in tech, non-financial risk & compliance, audit and retail operations to 24 ING units worldwide.

The mission
We are looking for a proactive senior engineer with a focus of 80% frontend and 20% backend. Our stakeholders are part of the Operational tribe in the financial sector, who often face challenges such as fragmented systems and inefficient workflows in the current way of working.
The OpenFin Platform application solves these problems by providing a unified desktop experience based on the cutting-edge OpenFin framework and the FDC3 protocol standards, enabling interoperability between web applications that typically do not communicate with each other. It is a Desktop application that integrates a Chromium browser where different Web Applications from inside ING can communicate seamlessly.
We expect you to be responsible and take ownership together with your colleagues in Bucharest and stakeholders from across the continent. Be open, honest, proactive, and communicate clearly and, most importantly, be a team-player that drives the team forward.
Your day to day:
Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:
- Contribute to the OpenFin Platform on the frontend and backend journey using JavaScript, TypeScript & Lit.
- Collaborate with the colleagues to ensure that code is of high quality, maintainable and meets business needs.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure that all code meets standards.
- Collaborate with your team members on the long-term strategy for the team and the portal application; continuously improve the user experience while also reducing the time-to-market
- Help your colleagues where needed and be there for them, as they will be for you
What you'll bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- +4 years of experience as a Front-End Engineer or Full-Stack Engineer
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Experience with the Node environment (or desire to learn Node quickly)
- Experience with front-end development frameworks (e.g. Lit, Angular, React, Vue.js)
- Experience with testing technologies and tools like Karma, Cucumber, WebdriverIO, Chai etc.
- Experience with building tools such as Webpack, Rollup, Vite etc.
- Experience with package managers such as NPM
- Proficiency with Git and version control systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Being a team-player that drives forward not only the project, but also their other colleagues.
- (Ideally) Experience with Web Components
- (Ideally) Strong experience with Node.JS
- (Ideally) Good understanding of browsers' native Web APIs especially Websockets, Web Workers and Web Storage APIs
