Senior Databricks Platform Engineer

Deloitte and Databricks have a market leading, global alliance and our work to support clients is growing rapidly. We are seeking to expand our team with experienced Databricks Engineers who can design and deploy cloud data platforms

As a Value & Adoption Lead you carry Serving Clients and Show, Don’t Tell most visibly: you reframe client conversations around demonstrable AI-enabled value and make sure every proposal carries a bold, outcome-changing idea.
You are measured on the value you create – client outcomes, gross margin and team sales – and you set the standard for how value is articulated, sold and realised.

Our AI & Data team comprises more than 500 specialist practitioners across Australia, each of whom are constantly curious and excited about combining their business acumen and technological expertise to create AI and data-centric solutions that help solve complex problems and transform or reinvent our clients’ business.
Our AI & Data team work with public and private sector clients, helping them design and implement world-leading solutions and capabilities. From solving air and ground transport network issues through our industry-first Optimal Reality digital twin solution, to bringing automation capabilities to vaccine rollout programs and helping our clients move to a sustainable world, we are the partner of choice for our clients and our alliance vendors.
Our technology relationships with market-leading vendors such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, Snowflake and Informatica enable our practitioners to be at the forefront of new and emerging capabilities and to deliver our suite of services at scale. Enough about us, let’s talk about you.
We are looking for Databricks Platform Engineers to bring the following capabilities:
- 8+ years' experience in cloud, platform engineering, data engineering, or DevOps environments, including 4+ years of significant Databricks experience.
- Deep hands-on experience with designing and deploying cloud data platforms (inc Securing review forum approvals).
- Strong experience across several of the following:
- modern data-lake compute and storage topology.

- Unity Catalog.
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Hands-on development experience in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- SQL and database skills.

- Networking and VPC/VNet configuration.
- Security, access management, and governance.
- CI/CD and platform automation.
- Platform monitoring, performance optimisation, and operational support.
- Strong grasp of data fundamentals, preferably with experience with databases, data. warehouses, data lakes or other storage solutions.
- Experience enabling AI, analytics, and data workloads on modern cloud platforms.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams across large-scale delivery programs.
- Previous consulting or client-facing experience will be highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and consulting skills, with the ability to work directly with senior stakeholders.
- Experience supporting solution shaping, pre-sales, and practice growth activities.
- Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, and ambiguous environments, with a strong focus on outcomes.
- Databricks and cloud certifications is a must.
