Job Title: Test Automation Engineer
Department: Testing Factory
About Business line/Function:
Testing Factory provides software testing services, including manual and automated testing, as well as performance testing. The team ensures quality, reliability, and compliance of applications across BNP Paribas Personal Finance, supporting delivery and transformation initiatives.
Position Purpose:
As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for proposing test automation strategy/plan, design efficient functional test scenarios and cases ensuring there is traceability back to all business requirements.
Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration and continuous deployment. Schedule automated execution. Identify, document, and report software defects and inconsistencies using bug tracking systems
Perform the automated execution results analysis. Ensure clear and concise test documentation. Define required test data needs.
Coordinate and create test data., test reports.
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Propose a test automation strategy/plan, facilitating automated scripts maintenance and design (framework, modularization etc.)
- Design efficient functional test scenarios and cases ensuring there is traceability back to all business requirements
- Integrate automated tests into the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline to ensure early detection of defects and provide rapid feedback to development teams
- Schedule automated execution according to the shared best practices
- Identify, document, and report software defects and inconsistencies using bug tracking systems
- Perform the automated execution results analysis and debug automated test scripts
- Create clear and concise test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test scripts, to facilitate knowledge transfer and maintain consistency in testing processes
- Define required test data needs
- Coordinate test data requests/create test data
- Create test reports / Support test reports / Support risk assessment
Contributing Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business, developers, and product owners
- Participate in Agile ceremonies
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices
- Support improvements in testing tools and methodologies
- Use AI-assisted tools for test design and execution where applicable
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- 5 Years and above of experience in UI & API Test Automation with the following tech stack: Java, Selenium, Cucumber, RestAssured
- Proven experience with Maven (Build, Dependencies, Lifecycle Management)
- Previous experience with BrowserStack and/or DigitalAI (or any other cloud-based cross-browser testing platforms)
- Exposure to Serenity BDD (Orchestration, Reporting, DSLs) will be desirable
- Previous experience in manual Rest API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, etc.)
- Proven experience with Git workflows (push, pull, merge, fetch, rebase, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to communicate efficiently with the team (business, developers, PO)
- Effective communication skills for conveying test strategies & plan for automation
Specific Qualifications:
- Good testing and troubleshooting experience across the software development lifecycle
- Good planning, organization, and time management skills
- Debugging skills & analytical skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Agile methodology
- Very good/advanced level of English
- Experience in banking projects - nice to have
- ISTQB certification would be a plus - nice to have
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitLab pipelines configurations - nice to have
