Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.

• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Senior Big Data Developer, you should have:

• Extensive proficiency in at least one of Python, Scala, or Java – with demonstrated ability to write optimized, production-grade code; design scalable data processing pipelines; and troubleshoot performance issues in large-scale systems
• Hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem – including HDFS, YARN, cluster management, and the ability to work effectively in big data infrastructure environments
• Proficiency in Apache Spark – with proven expertise in designing and optimizing distributed data processing jobs, handling large datasets, and tuning Spark configurations for performance

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Experience with UI/Web development and REST APIs – ability to build dashboards, monitoring interfaces, expose data services through APIs, or contribute to full-stack solutions that integrate data pipelines with user-facing applications
• Experience working in an Investment Bank or similar financial environment – understanding of regulatory constraints, data governance, high-stakes performance requirements, and working with complex financial data models
• Good communication skills

This role will be based in our Prague office.

Entry Salary: Kč 1,884,000.00

Upper Salary: Kč 2,301,000.00

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
