Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join us as a Senior Data Engineer at Barclays, where you will contribute to the development and enhancement of strategic stress testing solutions used across Risk and Finance. You will work with large-scale datasets and complex calculation engines that support regulatory and internal stress testing processes. The role combines applied data engineering with a deep understanding of risk calculations. Moreover, the position also requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, quantitative teams, and technology partners.

To be successful as a Data Engineer, you should have:

• Outstanding T-SQL development skills, including complex query writing, stored procedures, and database design.
• Proven experience with SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Extensive experience developing and supporting ETL solutions using SSIS.

Some other highly valued skills include:

• Experience with Python for data processing, automation, or analytics.
• Experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing.
• Experience with C# development and integration of data solutions.

This role is based in our Prague office.

Entry Salary: 1,200,000.00 CZK

Upper Salary: 1,683,000.00 CZK

The entry and upper salary information above includes only annual full-time equivalent base salary and represents the typical range of pay for the role. The actual pay rate will reflect the responsibility level of the role and experience level of the individual. The entry and upper salary information does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
