- The Investment Advisor provides support to the Relationship Managers and their clients to meet the client’s desired investment objectives and increase bank’s share of wallet.
- The Investment Advisor plays a key role in providing the bank’s house views on markets and products and providing clients with investment solutions in line with their investment objectives and risk profile.
- The Investment Advisor helps in liaising with the product managers within the Wealth Management Product team on a regular basis to discuss client requirements and to ensure flow of product and market knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Affluent Segment - Relationship Managers in UAE to meet client’s desired investment objectives and assist in achievement of AUM growth and revenues from Investment products.
- Responsible for updating the frontline and customers of the bank on the outlook published by the CIO Office with relevant and timely information on global Capital Markets, Asset Classes and route to market ideas.
- To play a key role in liaising with the product managers within the WM product team (Managed Investments, Bancassurance, CMPS and WM Lending) on a regular and ad-hoc basis to ensure flow of client and market requirement.
- Ensure proper client coverage is provided to complete Portfolio Reviews of target clients as defined from time to time in addition to planning for New to Wealth client.
- Determine client’s risk appetite, investment preference and return expectations by partnering with Relationship Managers in client meetings.
- Conduct portfolio reviews by providing independent opinion on quality of client’s existing portfolios.
- Ensure that all the wealth management sales teams (Frontline RMs & Specialists) receive adequate sales support, and route to market ideas basis current & relevant views.
- Keep abreast of latest trends on Investment products, financial markets, consumer behaviours and use of technology in providing investment solutions.
- Provide reports / analysis where required within the management framework.
- Engage with risk control owners and / or group policy owners for the implementation of policies and control standards set by them.
- Work with various stakeholders to focus on quality in delivery and turnaround time for end-to-end BAU to achieve efficiency and customer experience objectives.
- Collaboratively partner with risk teams to ensure risk management procedures and processes are effectively implemented to operate within operational and credit risk appetite.
- Adhere and ensure operational risk management measures are met on a day-to-day basis.
- Work collaboratively with countries and functions to ensure any audit findings are suitably rectified.
- Maintain an adequate control environment and operational procedures to prevent loss arising from non-adherence to controls.
- Adhere to all controls and compliance guidelines set by the Bank.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and controls as set by the Bank and external regulatory authorities associated with Investment products.
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
- This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Skills and Experience
- Understanding of Financial Markets.
- Needs to have good understanding or experience of global markets
- Approach to Advisory & Financial Planning.
- Understanding of Asset Allocation & Portfolio Construction
- Product Knowledge – Mutual Funds, Bonds, FX, Alternatives, Insurance, Leverage & Overdraft, Equities, Alternatives, Commodities, Derivatives, Structured Notes and Cross Currency Lending.
- Communication Skills Expert.
- Analytical and Computing Skills.
- Good stakeholder managements.
- CISI level 3– preferably have completed before hand.
Qualifications
• Minimum undergraduate
• CFA, CFP, PFP, CAIA, FRM or CMT is preferred but not mandatory
• English and Arabic is mandatory
