Pricing Actuary, New Ireland Assurance

What is the opportunity?
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping pricing outcomes for Group DC and other group or retail insurance products, ensuring they remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with business objectives and market trends. The role involves delivering robust analysis, commercial insight and clear recommendations that drive balanced profitability, strong governance and good customer outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain and review pricing models, assumptions and frameworks for life insurance products.
- Apply actuarial judgement to ensure pricing outcomes reflect appropriate risk assessment, profitability and customer value.
- Support analysis across key reporting and technical bases, including Solvency II, IFRS 17 and MCEV, as relevant to the role.
- Monitor experience, market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour to inform pricing strategy and assumption setting.
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, underwriting, distribution, product and senior stakeholder teams to align technical recommendations with business objectives.
- Prepare and present clear reports, forecasts and recommendations to senior management and governance forums.
- Drive continuous improvement in pricing methodologies, tools, controls and processes.
- Support tenders, product launches, experience investigations and strategic initiatives with actuarial expertise.
What will make you stand out?
- Qualified actuary with minimum 4 years' experience in a pricing, valuations, financial reporting or actuarial modelling role in the life and pensions industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of life insurance valuation and reporting bases, including Solvency II, IFRS 17 and MCEV.
- Experience in pricing, profit testing, assumption setting, experience analysis, embedded value, capital or financial reporting.
- Life insurance expertise across areas such as Protection, Group Risk, Retail or Group Pensions.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate technical analysis into practical business recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, challenge constructively and explain complex actuarial topics clearly.
- Ability to balance day to day delivery with strategic priorities, while maintaining strong governance, controls and attention to detail.
- Technical skills in Prophet, Excel and actuarial modelling tools; experience with SQL, R, Python or Power BI would be an advantage.
- Experience improving methodologies, challenging existing frameworks and contributing to end to end redesigns.
- Experience in Group DC pensions or Corporate products, including scheme level profitability and scenario modelling, would be an advantage.
Essential qualifications
- Qualified actuary (e.g., Society of Actuaries in Ireland or equivalent).
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years actuarial experience, ideally gained in a pricing, valuations, financial reporting or actuarial modelling environment.

New Ireland Assurance is responsible for the administration of all New Ireland Assurance and Bank of Ireland Life's Individual and Group business. The team is focused on delivering outstanding service and maintaining the highest quality and control standards at all times.
This is a hybrid role based primarily in the Ballsbridge office. Colleagues are required to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by the recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
