WHAT WILL BE YOUR MISSION?

As the Head of Retail for the Indian market, you will support the Managing Director in the definition of the local Retail strategy and will be responsible for its implementation in the internal boutiques located within its network.

As India Executive Committee Team, you will collaborate closely with Boutique Leaders, and stakeholders across the MEIAT Region.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

As the Head of Retail, you will manage all business performance topics related to the internal boutiques and for all product categories. As such, you will develop the business by delivering strong performance mindset, achieving sales targets, gaining market shares, and promoting a culture of performance among the retail community.

You will also manage our Boutique Managers in India and Retail Operations, partnering with HR and L&D to select, develop and empower our retail teams to achieve excellence.

As a true Ambassador of the Maison, you will play a key role in preserving the brand’s image and further develop brand awareness within India as well as during international events and forums. 

You will be responsible for the following:

Retail Performance Strategy & Sales Achievements

• Translate Maison’s global strategy into a local retail roadmap through performance analysis, market insights, and capability assessment.
• Drive boutique performance by defining commercial priorities, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring achievement of turnover and category objectives.
• Build and execute the retail component of the market’s 3-year strategic plan in partnership with the Managing Director and key stakeholders.
• Define boutique-level objectives, action plans, and performance indicators in collaboration with Marketing, Communication, Client, and regional teams.
• Lead commercial animation initiatives across the boutique network to accelerate growth and client engagement.
• Contribute to sales budgeting, boutique P&L planning, quarterly forecasting, and ongoing business reviews.
• Monitor financial performance and ensure disciplined budget management across the retail network.
• Develop and implement the high-end business strategy, including Prestige community development, VIP client acquisition, high-end stock strategy, and brand-building initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional commercial, client, people, finance, and operational projects with local and international stakeholders.

Retail Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead and coach Boutique Managers, ensuring strong leadership capability and alignment with Maison standards.
• Define optimal boutique organization, staffing structures, and resource allocation to support business growth.
• Partner in recruitment, succession planning, and talent development across the retail network.
• Collaborate with the Managing Director and L&D teams to establish individual development plans and career pathways.
• Drive a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and performance accountability.
• Build and animate key retail communities, including High-End, Product Category, and specialist networks.

Retail Development & Expansion

• Identify and evaluate new retail opportunities, relocations, renovations, and lease renewals in alignment with Maison strategy.
• Lead retail development projects from opportunity assessment through execution, partnering with Regional stakeholders.
• Provide market intelligence and competitive insights by developing a strong understanding of consumer trends, local communities, and market dynamics.

Retail Operations & Excellence

• Drive operational excellence by implementing best practices, improving processes, and strengthening boutique standards.
• Ensure consistent application of Maison policies, procedures, and operational guidelines across the network.
• Partner with Richemont functions including Finance and Security to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Develop tools, dashboards, and management frameworks to enhance boutique performance and professionalize retail practices.
• Lead implementation of retail initiatives, systems, and projects while ensuring effective communication with local and regional stakeholders.
• Ensure excellence in Visual Merchandising execution in partnership with local teams.

Client Strategy & Development

• Embed a client-centric culture across the retail network to enhance client satisfaction, loyalty, and recruitment.
• Partner with regional and local Client, Marketing, and Communication teams to strengthen CRM capabilities and client portfolio management.
• Drive boutique clienteling strategies and initiatives to develop long-term client relationships.
• Represent Cartier as a Maison Ambassador at local and international events and with VIP clientele.

HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a commercial / client facing organization with at least 5 years in a similar position 
• Strong Retail acumen and attention to detail
• A strong analytical mindset, converting insights into commercial action plans
• Proven ability to drive performance and elevate client experience
• Financial literacy and ability to develop a P&L
• Ability to working transversally across different functions and large organizations  
• Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity and navigate the same for yourself and your team
• Agility and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent preferably in multiple languages with spoken and written English as well as spoken Hindi.
