Sephora SEA’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).

Head of Visual Merchandising Design  

You will be responsible for the strategic design, development, and delivery of Sephora's store fixture and Creative Visual Merchandising design concepts across Southeast Asia-Oceania (SEAO). This role involves translating brand guidelines into practical fixture plans and compelling Creative VM design solutions to enhance customer experience, support business objectives, and integrate more sustainable approaches across materials, energy use, waste management, and execution processes. You will lead the Senior Creative VM Designer, manage complex projects with independence, coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and contractors, and help ensure all fixture and Creative VM initiatives are executed on time, within budget, in line with brand standards, and with sustainability considerations embedded where possible.

The role reports directly to the Director, Store Design & Construction, SEAO.

Strategic Leadership & Design Development: 

• Develop and adapt comprehensive store fixture plans and Creative Visual Merchandising concepts in line with Sephora brand guidelines, while contributing to the continuous improvement of store design standards and more sustainable design solutions. 

• Lead the New Fixture Creative and Roll-out process, from conceptualization to full implementation. 

• Establish and enforce robust Fixture Guidelines (Brand & Sephora) across the region. 

• Champion sustainable fixture and Creative VM strategies by identifying opportunities to source more sustainable materials, improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and embed environmentally responsible practices into design and rollout processes. 

• Oversee the strategy and execution of Creative VM for: 

• Animation Front-of-Store (FOS) displays. 

• Launch Pad areas for new product introductions. 

• Window Displays for Sephora. 

• Instore Creative VM (Operational/Retail e.g., Reward / MPOS, SPOS / Click & Collect / Gift Bar). 

• Produce 3D renderings and visual presentations to communicate design intent clearly and support stakeholder alignment and decision-making. 

Project Management & Execution: 

• Manage assigned fixture and Creative VM projects from concept through to execution, ensuring all deliverables are completed efficiently and in line with Sephora guidelines and standards. 

• Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and contractors to support accurate and timely execution, including reviewing production drawings and clarifying design intent throughout delivery. 

• Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness, adherence to quality standards, and consideration of sustainable alternatives across sourcing, fabrication, and implementation. 

Site Evaluation & Implementation: 

• Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate space conditions, customer flow, and operational requirements, translating insights into effective design solutions. 

• Support material and finish selection for fixtures and Creative VM displays, balancing aesthetics, durability, cost, sustainability, and alignment to brand standards, with a focus on sourcing more sustainable materials where feasible. 

• Conduct regular store visits to review design implementation, identify issues and opportunities, and recommend practical improvements. 

• Identify and recommend practical actions to reduce energy consumption, manage waste more effectively, and improve the environmental impact of fixture and Creative VM solutions across the store lifecycle. 

Team Leadership & Collaboration: 

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Senior Creative VM Designer, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment. 

• Partner with cross-functional teams to develop fixture and Creative VM solutions that enhance customer experience, support operational needs, and reflect Sephora's brand vision. 

• Stay informed on design trends, materials, and best practices in retail design and Creative Visual Merchandising to continuously elevate store environments. 

We would love to hear from you if you are/have…

• More than 10 years in retail design, interior design, architecture, fixture development, or a related field, with significant experience in a leadership role.
• Hands-on experience managing complex store design and Creative Visual Merchandising projects from concept through execution.
• Extensive exposure to beauty, fashion, luxury, or customer-facing retail environments is a distinct advantage.
• Strong design sensibility with the ability to translate brand guidelines into practical store solutions. 
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools. 
• Ability to produce clear layouts, drawings, renderings, and presentations. 
• Strong project coordination skills across timelines, budgets, priorities, vendors, and contractors. 
• Knowledge of sustainable materials, environmentally responsible design practices, and opportunities to improve energy efficiency and waste reduction in retail environments.
