Quality Assurance Management Team Leader

We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Management Team Leader who blends technical expertise with proven leadership in team management and strategic quality governance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, leads with confidence, and ensures excellence at every level.

Your mission

As Leader of Quality Assurance Management Team Leader for Thales Belgium, you will lead and coordinate Quality Assurance Management activities across bids, projects, and operational interfaces.

Acting as a transversal leader, you will ensure consistency, efficiency, and robustness of quality practices throughout the project lifecycle while supporting business performance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

You will serve as the main reference for Bid & Project Quality Assurance activities within Thales Belgium and represent the entity at Group level for all related Quality Assurance topics.

This position requires a strong ability to influence cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and support strategic business objectives in a complex and highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities  

1. Bid & Project Quality Leadership

• Define, deploy, and continuously improve the Bid & Project Quality Assurance framework across Thales Belgium.
• Ensure effective implementation of quality processes throughout the bid, development, industrialization, and project execution phases.
• Support bids and projects in meeting customer, contractual, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
• Ensure quality commitments proposed during bids are realistic, achievable, and aligned with operational capabilities.

2. Transversal Coordination & Interface Management

• Act as the key interface between Quality, Projects, Engineering, Industrial Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, and other support functions.
• Facilitate alignment between stakeholders and resolve cross-functional quality issues, risks, or conflicts.
• Coordinate Quality Assurance Manager priorities and ensure effective allocation of Quality Assurance resources across bids and projects.
• Support harmonization of practices between sites and programs.

3. Operational Quality Support

Provide expertise and support on critical quality topics including:

• Escalate major risks or deviations to stakeholders (Projects, Quality Leadership, etc.).
• project recovery plans,
• compliance issues.
• Ensure lessons learned and best practices are captured and shared across the organization.

4. Continuous Improvement & Governance

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to Bid & Project Quality Assurance performance.
• Monitor and analyze KPIs to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to the maturity of quality culture, operational excellence, and risk management practices.
• Prepare and present quality performance indicators and key risks to leadership and governance bodies.

5. Representation & Communication

• Represent Thales Belgium within Group Quality networks and communities.
• Lead Quality Assurance Management coordination meetings, project quality reviews, and governance workshops.
• Support customer meetings and external audits when required.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, and a proactive quality mindset across the organization.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Project Quality, or Quality Management within industrial and project-driven environments.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, transportation, energy, or other regulated industries is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in cross-functional coordination and stakeholder management within complex organizations.
• Experience working with bids, development projects, and industrial programs.

Strong knowledge of quality standards and methodologies:

• Quality standards (ISO 9001, EN 9100, etc.) and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA),
• Good understanding of project management and bid management processes.
• Familiarity with industrial environments and product lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with reporting and quality management tools.

• Strong leadership and influencing skills in matrix organizations.
• Leadership Without Authority: Ability to influence and align teams without direct hierarchical control.
• Communication: Strong verbal/written skills; adaptability to technical, managerial, and customer audiences.
• Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and pragmatic solution proposal.
• Rigor & Organization: Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Languages

Fluent in English and French.

Dutch is considered an asset.
