Junior Tax Specialist – part time, 1 year contract (maternity cover) (m/f/diverse)

We are seeking a skilled Junior Tax Specialist to join our Tax Team within Commerzbank Group Finance Eurohub based in Prague (“Eurohub Prague”). Eurohub Prague as a shared service center managing tax functions for multiple continental Europe branches of Commerzbank AG.
The ideal candidate will have a background in tax (mainly VAT, WHT, CIT) and accounting and excellent language skills. In the role of Junior Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing indirect tax compliance and advisory services for our European branches. You will collaborate closely with various departments and external advisors to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and optimize tax processes. This role also offers opportunities to be involved in other tax related matters beyond indirect taxes.
Your tasks
- Oversee and manage indirect tax compliance for our continental Europe branches and communication with external tax advisors in this respect
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of WHT returns, VAT returns, Intrastat and fulfil other indirect tax related reporting
- Conduct thorough reviews and audits of tax filings to ensure compliance with local regulations
- Engage in other tax-related matters as needed, such as corporate income tax, withholding tax, transfer pricing, reporting related to international tax initiatives
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address tax related queries and issues
- Stay updated with changes in tax legislation and implement necessary adjustments to tax processes
- Participate in various internal tax reporting to optimize tax positions
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in taxes as an Accountant or Tax Specialist (preferably with focus on VAT); within a financial institution as an advantage
- Experience working in an organization providing services across multiple markets or geographies is preferable
- Previous experience with SAP is an advantage
- Understanding of European indirect & direct tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Fluent English is required, other European language is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to education and professional development
