Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Design & Demand Creation Insights - Beauty & Wellbeing (CMI) to shape how our brands innovate and show up in culture—grounded in deep consumer understanding and sharp business insight. This is a strategic CMI leadership role focused on fueling innovation and elevating creative design through consumer intimacy and insight, supporting key Beauty & Wellbeing North America brands such as TRESemmé, SheaMoisture, Vaseline, and Nexxus. The role will ensure our brands deliver distinctive, culturally relevant, and commercially effective plans, while connecting upstream choices to in-market performance.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of consumer obsession, cultural fluency, and business acumen—able to influence what we create, how we show up, and ultimately how we grow.
Key Accountabilities
Shape Insight-Led Innovation & Design
- Lead development of insight-driven foundations that guide innovation, design, and creative direction
- Identify unmet needs, tensions, and cultural signals that unlock new product, format, and storytelling opportunities. Shape “where to play” and “how to win” choices through a consumer-first, design-forward lens, acting as a consumer-obsessed leader with deep curiosity and a strong instinct for what makes ideas and executions stand out
- Partner with Brand Design team to ensure ideas are rooted in real consumer and cultural relevance. Elevate how all design touchpoints reflect meaningful consumer benefits and brand distinctiveness
Bring Cultural & Consumer Depth to Strategic Brand World Building
- Serve as a trusted partner to Brand Lead on strategic direction of the brand
- Act as a cultural radar, identifying emerging shifts that inform how brands show up authentically through cultural fluency, demonstrating not just trend-awareness, but a deep understanding of the dynamics, tensions, and human motivations shaping culture
- Translate consumer behavior, motivations, and rituals into clear strategic direction for teams
- Ensure brands are not only functionally compelling, but also emotionally and culturally resonant
Connect Insight to Business & Performance
- Ground recommendations in a strong understanding of category dynamics, channel realities, and growth drivers while being business-minded and understanding competitors and what drives growth
- Link upstream decisions (innovation, design, messaging) to in-market performance outcomes
- Synthesize multiple data sources (consumer, retail, digital) into clear, business-focused implications
- Provide guidance on what drives breakthrough, engagement, and conversion, without losing sight of long-term brand equity
- Influence senior stakeholders through clear, compelling storytelling and conviction as an influential storyteller who lands ideas with clarity, confidence, and impact
Elevate Design & Demand Generation Effectiveness
- Ensure demand generation plans are anchored in strong consumer and creative insights by acting as a strategic connector who links insight, creativity, and performance seamlessly
- Help identify what works and why across content, messaging, and channels
- Create feedback loops between in-market performance and upstream design/innovation decisions
Required Qualifications
- 6–10+ years in Consumer & Market Insights (CMI)/brand insights
- Demonstrated ability to shape innovation and/or creative development through insight
- Strong understanding of consumer behavior, culture, and brand building
- Expertise in business partnering and influencing, working with cross-functional teams across disciplines
- Proven ability to connect insights to business impact and performance outcomes, driving competitive growth
- Exceptional ability to synthesize and communicate clear, actionable narratives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly within the beauty, personal care, or FMCG industry
Pay: The pay range for this position is $119,400 to $179,000. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
