Global Financial Crimes Compliance Officer – Vice President

As a Global Financial Crimes Compliance Officer (Vice President within Australia & New Zealand Global Financial Crimes Compliance, you lead and coordinate AML/CFT program execution and advisory support across local legal entities. You help translate regulatory expectations into clear policies, controls, and governance routines that work in real operating environments. You partner closely with senior stakeholders to identify emerging risks, challenge gaps, and drive timely remediation. You play an active role in strengthening an ethical, conduct-focused culture through visible risk leadership and effective communication.
You’ll work with regional and global financial crime compliance partners and collaborate closely with country compliance and operational risk stakeholders. The team operates at the intersection of regulatory change, business growth, and control effectiveness—balancing customer experience with strong risk outcomes. Your work will include both strategic program shaping and hands-on execution to keep the AML/CFT framework effective and audit-ready.
Job responsibilities
- Lead AML/CFT program planning, coordination, and execution across local legal entities in line with global standards.
- Build and maintain AML/CFT policies, standards, procedures, and governance materials, including coordinating periodic reviews and approvals.
- Advise business stakeholders on AML/CFT requirements and provide practical, risk-based guidance for implementation.
- Coordinate regulatory and law enforcement engagements related to AML/CFT, including responses, documentation, and issue follow-up.
- Review and challenge business procedures (for example, Customer Due Diligence, payments controls, transaction monitoring, investigations, regulatory reporting, screening, and recordkeeping) to confirm alignment with policy and local regulation.
- Assess financial crime risks tied to new products, services, processes, customer segments, and geographies, and escalate material risks and issues.
- Oversee governance and risk management for higher-risk customers, including onboarding, risk assessment, and ongoing due diligence reviews.
- Produce and analyze AML-related management reporting to identify trends, anomalies, and control gaps, and track remediation to closure.
- Support escalation and coordination of suspicious activity/transaction reporting in line with local requirements and internal procedures.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, reviews, and inspections by managing evidence collection, issue tracking, and action plan governance.
- Promote a strong AML/CFT culture by partnering across teams, communicating expectations clearly, and reinforcing accountability.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (for example, accounting, business, economics, finance, law, or similar).
- 6 years of relevant experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or related regulatory compliance work.
- Demonstrated experience translating AML/CFT regulatory requirements into actionable controls, procedures, and governance routines.
- Experience coordinating regulatory engagements (for example, supervisory reviews, information requests, and remediation commitments).
- Experience supporting audit, controls testing, or issue management, including evidence preparation and remediation tracking.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend risk-based actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging to different seniority levels.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, including the ability to challenge constructively and drive outcomes across teams.
- Strong attention to detail, quality orientation, and sound judgement under time pressure or incomplete information.
- Working knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing typologies, emerging risks, and current industry practices.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience in a complex, multi-entity or global financial institution environment.
- Experience supporting AML/CFT oversight in payments or transaction processing environments.
- Familiarity with customer risk assessment approaches and higher-risk customer due diligence reviews.
- Experience designing or improving AML-related management reporting and dashboards.
- Experience developing or delivering AML training, awareness campaigns, or testing programs.
- Relevant professional certifications (for example, CAMS or equivalent).
- Experience facilitating governance forums (for example, risk committees) and producing clear committee materials.
