We’re looking for an actuary to join our Capital Modelling team. Reporting into a Senior Capital Actuary, you’ll support the delivery of capital requirement calculations at Group and solo entity levels, using both the standard formula and internal model.
This is a great opportunity to work closely with Risk and wider business teams, providing risk and capital analysis that supports strategic decision making across areas such as business planning, reinsurance strategy and dividends.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of capital requirements at Group and solo entity levels for reporting purposes.
- Produce risk and capital analysis to support key business decisions across the organisation.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and, where required, the regulator.
- Work closely with the Risk function to build awareness of the key financial risks faced by the business.
- Support the ongoing delivery of the IMAP project, including validation remediation, model development, model documentation and risk parameterisation.
- Assist with the build and continuous improvement of the internal model, including data review, input parameterisation, model design, testing and calibration.
- Perform stress and sensitivity testing to assess the appropriateness of model outputs.
- Support international businesses with capital queries, sharing UK best practice and developing awareness of different issues across the wider business.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Capital Modelling team, including supporting colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary, ideally with experience working within a General Insurance environment.
- Strong understanding of capital modelling concepts, including internal models and standard formula calculations.
- Highly numerate and analytical, with a strong academic record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical analysis clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Experienced user of General Insurance capital modelling software (e.g. Igloo, Remetrica)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Risk, Actuarial and wider business teams.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing data, model outputs and documentation.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with VBA or other tools used to improve modelling processes and outputs.
